Elective Course Requests
Next Year Scheduling with Alternate Course Requests
Overview:
When an incoming student has alternate elective course requests at your campus for next year's scheduling, you will need to use the Course Requests Detail tab to document them on the student's course request list. Below are the instructions on how to add alternate course requests and how to switch the courses if needed.
Entry Point: Scheduling / Course Request Detail Tab
Use the Course Requests Detail tab to add elective course requests to a student's schedule.
Click the + icon to add the elective courses.
In the Course field, enter the course ID, or click the course’s icon to display the Search Courses tab and select a new course. If you complete the Course field, the system populates the Description field. Do this for each elective course then click Save.
In the AP column, use the following information to determine the counselor approval status of the course request:
- "N": Indicates that counselor approval is required and the approval has not been given
- Click the Apprv button to change this status
- "Y": Indicates that counselor approval has been given for this student’s course requests
- "NA": Indicates that counselor approval is not required for this course
Adding Alternate Course Requests
To add an alternate course request for a course, click the NA button under the Alt? column.
The Course Catalog box will pop up.
Click the dropdown to select the alternate course.
The NA button now displays an N button under the Alt? column.
If you hover over the N button, the alternate course notes will appear displaying which course is the original request and which course is the alternate request.
✨ Repeat this process for each course with alternate requests and click Save.
⚠ If the wrong Alternate Course was selected or it needs to be changed, delete the course line and add the original course request again, then follow the steps listed above.
Switching Original Course to Alternate Course
If an alternate course is needed for a student's schedule, click the N button under the Alt? column to quickly switch out the courses.
The N button now displays a Y button under the Alt? column.
Click Save to make the change.
How to Determine the Alternate Course Status
In the Alt? column, use the following information to determine the alternate course status of the course request:
- "NA" and "N": Indicate that the original course is displayed on the course request list
- "Y": Indicates that the alternate course is displayed on the course request list
