Walt Disney
November 3, 2024
Ahoy, Walt Disney families!
Arrr, we be sailin' through a fantastic end to the week, celebratin' Halloween with all ye fine families! Our school was alive with spirit and smiles as our students strutted their costumes in the annual Halloween parade. A hearty thank ye to all the parents, friends, and families who joined us shoreside to cheer on our little mateys! And a special tip of the captain’s hat to the WD PTO, whose support made our classroom parties as lively as a treasure-filled cove.
Now, as we chart our course for the coming week, here be a few key dates to mark on ye calendars:
- Tuesday, November 5th – No school for students, as it be Election Day! Take this day to make your voices heard.
- Friday, November 8th & Monday, November 11th – Another two days of rest for our young learners, as it’s a teacher grading day and Veterans Day.
Thank ye for keepin' our Walt Disney spirit shipshape and for bringin' such joy to our Halloween festivities. May the week ahead be smooth sailin' for all!
Anchors aweigh,
Captain Hook Ortiz

A SWAP meeting, short for "Swap and Share" or "Stuff We All Possess," is a great way for people to exchange gently used items they no longer need for things they can use or want. These events are environmentally friendly and promote sustainability by reducing waste and promoting the reuse of items. Here's how a SWAP meeting typically works:
- Gathering Items: Participants gather items from their homes that are in good condition but are no longer needed or wanted. These items can include clothing, toys, household items, books, and more. The idea is to bring items that someone else might find valuable.
- Sorting and Display: When you arrive at the SWAP meeting, items are usually sorted into categories and displayed in an organized manner. This makes it easier for participants to find what they're looking for.
- Giving and Getting: Participants can either give, get, or both. If you have items to give, you can place them on designated tables or in specific areas for others to take. If there are items you need or want, you can browse through the items brought by other participants and take what you need.
- No Money Exchange: The key principle of a SWAP meeting is that no money is exchanged. Everything is based on the principle of sharing and swapping items freely.
- Unclaimed Items: After the SWAP meeting, any unclaimed items are often donated to local charities or organizations, ensuring that even items that weren't swapped find a useful purpose. You can take it to the nearest location and support another person by donating any items you have left.
SWAP meetings are a win-win for both individuals and the environment. They promote recycling and reusing, reduce waste, and provide an opportunity for community members to connect while helping one another. It's a great way to declutter your home and acquire items you need without spending money.

About the Shop With A Cop Program
The Middletown Shop With A Cop program, now in its sixth year, is a collaborative effort involving six police departments across Lower Bucks County. This program provides children from various school districts, including many in our own community, the opportunity to shop with local police officers during the holiday season. The Middletown Township Police Department manages the application process, determining eligibility and ensuring students from across the region can participate. We are proud to continue working with the Middletown officers to help brighten the holidays for our students.

We will not skip rotation days due to unscheduled school closings. A copy of the rotation calendar can also be found here: Rotation Calendar 2024-2025.
Arrival & Dismissal Time
Each day the doors to the school will open at 8:40 AM. Students should plan to arrive at school at exactly 8:40 am. All other students will be dismissed immediately following kindergarten.

The school board has passed an updated Elementary Student Code of Conduct. This includes information about our school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Support System. It also includes attendance regulations and important information regarding support systems for families and students. We are committed at Pennsbury to help our kids be their best selves. Birthday Celebrations
As part of the Pennsbury School District Wellness Policy, shared classroom snacks are not permitted in district schools. Suggested nonfood ideas for parents/guardians and staff include stickers, pencils, spirit sticks and reward activities. Please contact your child’s teacher in advance to make arrangements. You can read more about Board Policy 246 - School Wellness by visiting Pennsbury’s School Board Policies page.
Items such as stuffed animals, balloons and other party favors are not permitted to be brought into school. Birthday invitations will only be distributed if there is an invitation for each child in the classroom.
Volunteer Clearances
All individuals interested in volunteering in the Pennsbury School District are required to have clearances on file in the office. This includes individuals that are interested in working at school events such as parties, field trips, classroom events, PTO events, etc. While events such as field trips do not occur until the middle to end of the school year, we encourage all parents/guardians to apply for their clearances immediately. Individuals that do not have clearances on file in the office can not be chosen as chaperones or volunteer at any other school function. Once you have obtained all required clearances, you must upload them into our volunteer tracker App Garden. If you have previously submitted clearances to the school and were an approved volunteer, you are still required to complete the Volunteer Affirmation Form. Individuals are not considered an approved volunteer until that form is submitted each year. Parents/guardians are highly encouraged to check their clearance expiration dates. We have several individuals that currently have expired clearances on file. For more information about required clearances click Volunteer Clearances.
Media Release
At times, we may take photos of your child(ren) involved in school activities. These photos may appear on our school/district website, social media platforms, yearbook or the local newspaper.
