Meta's Gallatin Data Center Plants Seeds of Success for SCS Students
Meta's Gallatin Data Center partnered with Sumner County Schools to install pollinator gardens at six middle schools throughout the county. Working with the TN Environmental Council, students at each middle school helped prepare the soil and plant a 1,000 square foot garden at each of the participating schools. The middle schools are Shafer MS. Rucker Stewart MS, Hawkins MS, Knox Doss MS, Portland West MS, and Westmoreland MS. We are excited to see the flowers begin to bloom this spring!

BHS Engineering Students Give Back
Students in Mr. Harris's Engineering classes designed and created Christmas ornaments for members of Community Life Bridge, an organization that partners with senior adults to bridge the gap of unmet needs.
BHS Engineering Student Wins Award
Bella Ratz won the fall semester architectural design award. She was awarded $50 by a local contractor for her work.
BHS Early Childhood Education
Early Childhood Education student, Kylie Angelona, led the children through the life cycle of a painted lady butterfly. The butterflies emerged and the children released them.

GHS DECA Highlights
GHS DECA has been actively engaging in educational and community initiatives. Members recently attended Dollywood to explore careers in sports and entertainment marketing, gaining insights into real-world applications of their studies.
The chapter also demonstrated their commitment to community service by decorating Sumner County EMS facilites for the holiday season.
DECA students assisted and networked with local leaders during the Gallatin Chamber of Commerce's State of the City Address.

Fire Science Blazes
Students watch as Gallatin firefighters burn a doll house to teach and demonstrate ventilation patterns and fire behavior.
Health Science Students Stop the Bleed
The Stop the Bleed event allows students to learn a valuable lifesaving skill. They learned how to recognize and control severe bleeding in emergency situations. Students earned a Stop the Bleed Certificate from TriStar Hendersonville for completing and passing the training.
Criminal Justice
Criminal Justice 4 students participated in the Corrections Certification Program which is the starting point for training to become a corrections officer. Students toured the corrections training facility where they participated in defense tactic training, self-defense training, and the completion ceremony.
FFA Supports Literacy
FFA members from GHS participated in Tennessee's Agriculture Literacy Week. GHS students visited all five elementary schools in Gallatin.

Seniors Explore Local Options
Students from the class of 2025 visit Volunteer State Community College for a campus tour to learn more about the many programs of study offered for their post-secondary experiences.
Interior Design
Students in Interior Design II classes visited Floor and Decor in Hendersonville where they heard from Professional Interior Designers as they demonstrated what it's like to walk a client through the design process. Students finished the day with a tour of the O'More College of Architecture and Design at Belmont University in Nashville.
Senior Interview Day
Seniors prepared resumes and practiced the valuable skill of interviewing as they spoke with guest interviewers who gave them immediate feedback on their strengths as well as areas for growth.
Commando Career Connection
The Commando Career Connection hosts a local business and industry partner each Wednesday. Students have the opportunity to connect with local businesses, learn about career opportunities, and find out what it takes to be successful in the field.
Health Science
Health Science students at HHS put their skills to work as they conducted hearing and vision screenings for students in Wellness classes.
Eleven Nursing Education students passed their CNA certification test in December. They spent the semester studying, practicing in the lab, and completing 40 hours of bedside care at NHC Place Sumner.
Welcome to the Commando Cafe
HHS FBLA created the Commando Cafe, bringing warm drinks and cold ones alike to the school. They have also partnered with local bakery, Early Bird Co., to bring cinnamon rolls and cookies to the faculty. Students have been working hard bringing the club to new heights and raising funds for FBLA.

Students in the Computer Science Foundations classes visited Volunteer State Community College during Cybersecurity Awareness Week recently.
JUICE SHOP Application
Students started off in a college lab playing JUICE SHOP, the most sophisticated and modern web application used for Cybersecurity training.
STEM GenCyber Trailer
Students next experienced the STEM GenCyber trailer by performing a series of cybersecurity challenges involving the CIA triad: Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability.
Grand Finale
Students finished with a cybersecurity jeopardy game going through categories that emphasize terminology used in cybersecurity.

Marketing Matters
Jamie Weiss, a marketing strategy and design specialist, spoke with MHMS students about her career. College experiences, social media trends, and the creative aspects of marketing were shared.
Physical Therapy
Dr. Annie Washington, DPT, spoke with students about her career as a physical therapist. Undergraduate studies, physical therapy doctoral programs, and different career paths were all discussed.
Tractor Supply Company
Drew Ellis, Inventory Manager at TSC, shared the value of holding a lean six sigma certification with students.
Kirby Building Systems
A financial analyst and civil engineer/detailing group leadership from Kirby Byilding Systems in Portland visited MHMS to share educational backgrounds, requirements, and potential career opportunities with students.
Business Students Excel
Business students visited Amazon corporate offices to take the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt test, achieving an impressive 96% pass rate. Special congratulations to Presley Altepeter, who earned a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt II certification - an extraordinary achievement!
As the first district worldwide to partner with Amazon for Lean Six Sigma, more than 150 Sumner County students have already earned the prestigious credential!

DECA officers presented their award-winning DECA vieo and shared their experiences as CTE students and DECA advisors with MHMS Advisory Council.

FCCLA Shines
PHS FCCLA was highlighted in a recent publication of Tennessee's FCCLA periodical. A PHS student even received the monthly award!
National Technical Honors Society
The PHS chapter of the NTHS has inducted 14 new members! These outstanding juniors and seniors were nominated by their CTE teachers due to excellence in both CTE and academic classes, exceptional performance in CTSOs, industry certifications, AP exams, EPSOs, and concentration in CTE pathways.
Human Studies
Students in Mrs. Lipscomb's Human Studies classes have all passed the safety exam and started the nutrition and cooking unit.
Fun with Fashion
Fashion Design students worked with a kindergarten class to create fun with fashion skills. Kindergarteners drew a monster, and the Fashion Design students brought them to life! The creations were then presented to the young ones by the students who created them. What a fun and memorable experience for everyone involved!

National Corvette Museum Tour
Mr. Madison's Advanced Manufacturing students toured the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. While there, students learned about the history of the Corvette as well as the technological advancements in the automotive industry.
Advanced Manufacturing Tours Nissan
Advanced Manufacturing students toured the Nissan plant in Smyrna, TN. While riding a tram through the 6-million square foot facility, they observed the multi-step process of vehicle assembly and how robotics are utilized in every aspect of production.

Agriscience students participated in a mock dairy foods contest. After students tested their knowledge of the different attributes assigned to the products, they invited Mrs. Walker, Business teacher, to be their special guest.

Teaching as a Profession
Teaching as a Profession students participated in CPR training with Nurse Natalie Cannon and Nurse Kayla Alexander. This training prepares students to administer life-saving measures such as CPR, AED, Heimlich Maneuver, and epinephrine doses.
Health Screenings
Health Science students put their skills into action by facilitating health screenings for elementary students, including vision and hearing assessments. This hand-on experience not only supported the younger students but also provided valuable practice for these future healthcare professionals.
Rehabilitation Careers
Mrs. Villafana invited Brenda Green from Tier One Orthopedics and Neurosurgical Institute to teach her students how to apply a short arm cast.
Beauty & Brains
Cosmetology students explored the beauty industry firsthand with a tour of Supply Centric and Cosmo Prof. They learned about both traditional and cutting-edge products, gaining valuable insights into options for future clients. A perfect blend of education and inspiration for aspiring beauty professionals!
Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics
STEM 1 students took an eye-opening industry tour at North American Stamping Group, a top provider of innovative and sustainable manufacturing solutions.
STEM 2 & 3 students had an exciting industry tour at Tate Ornamental, a leader in ornamental metal, architectural millwork, and commercial stone. During the visit, students explored the facility and gained insights from experts across various roles. With high-profile partners like TPAC, the Titans Suite House, and Disney under their belt, Tate Ornamental offered a fascinating glimpse into the world of craftsmanship and innovation that reaches clients worldwide.
