Week of 2/3/25-2/7/25
Principal's Messaage
Dear Falcon Families,
It was amazing to see so many students show their school spirit during Kindness Week! As we enter February, we celebrate a month of love, appreciation, and recognition:
National School Counseling Week- Highlighting the role school counselors play in helping students grow and feel well.
Black History Month – Honoring the achievements and contributions of Black leaders throughout history.
American Heart Month – Encouraging heart health and wellness.
💙 Share the Love! 💙
I invite families to "Share the Love" by recognizing one of our hardworking staff members!
➡️ Visit https://www.cvesd.org/contact-us scroll to the bottom, and select General Topics > Share the Love.
- Have you been inspired by a staff member at Otay?
- Has someone made a difference in your life or your child's life?
- Is there an extraordinary situation that exemplifies our core beliefs?
- Would you like to nominate someone to be featured in #StoriesofCVESD?
We also have some exciting events ahead:
🏅 2/7/25 8:00-8:30 am Jump Rope for Heart – Join us for a fun-filled morning of movement and heart-healthy activities!
💃 2/13/25 2:30-4:30 pm Friendship Dance – Celebrate with music, dancing, and Falcon fun!
Let’s make February a month full of appreciation, celebration, and community spirit!

The Learning Pit
Continue to ask your child daily: Did you get into the Learning Pit? At Otay, we encourage students to use a growth mindset to face challenges, have a go at something new, try with a willingness to be confused or make mistakes along the way, and to persist in problem solving.

- For safety reasons, students must wear flat, close-toed shoes
- Every minute of instruction counts. If your child forgets snack, lunch, or water, do not worry. Second Chance and lunch will be provided. They also have access to water fountains. We kindly ask that you refrain from dropping off any items. Let’s work together to help our falcons build responsibility.
- Please note that if your child is not picked up on time at dismissal, you'll need to sign them out from the office.
