New Albany High School

Starting December 10th, students will be able to login to their College Board account to see their PSAT scores. All 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students took the PSAT on October 16th. The PSAT is a preliminary test for the SAT and provides college readiness benchmarks. Students are able to use PSAT scores to identify areas of strengths and areas of improvement prior to taking the SAT. College Board has partnered with Khan Academy, and when students enter their PSAT scores into Khan Academy a personalized path is created based on PSAT scores. The personalized pathway provided by Khan Academy is an excellent way for Juniors to prepare for the SAT administration at school on April 15th, 2020.

All parents are invited to the PSAT informational meeting on Wednesday, January 15th at 7 pm in the Middle School Cafeteria. Mark Yoho, a College Board Representative, will discuss how to understand the PSAT score report and review all the resources available to students and parents.

PART 1: Selective College Information Panel (7:00-7:45pm)

Open to all grades 9-11. College admissions counselors share what selective colleges look for and how students can create a competitive college profile.

PART 2: Class of 2021 College Information Session (7:50-8:45pm)

NAHS school and college counselors present 11th grade families essential information on college exploration and steps to best prepare for the college application process.

High School semester exams are December 18, 19 and 20, 2019. Please click here to view the exam schedule. In order to give your student permission to leave campus during the periods he/she is not assigned to take an exam (i.e. during study center or during exam make-up times), you must complete the Permission to Leave Campus form for your student. Make-up exams should be arranged between the student and the teacher.

Transportation
· Bus transportation will be provided for the start of school each morning and for the 2:50 dismissal.
· Students must have an early dismissal permission form completed and dated by a parent in order to leave campus before 2:50 pm.

Lunch
· Lunch will be available in the cafeteria from 11:00-12:05 each day.
· The Jefferson Room will not be open for lunch during exams.

National Honor Society students are available to provide tutoring on Monday and Tuesday from 7:15 a.m. - 7:45 a.m. in the lower library and Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the Jefferson Room. If your student is interested, please have them check their email for the link to sign up.

The NAHS Environmental Club is having a Reusable Water Bottle Sale in the E Lobby before school this Friday, December 6. Help the club raise money for additional water bottle filling stations in the high school. Bottles are $10.00 each. Please come with cash.

Attention sophomores: Eastland-Fairfield Career and Technical Schools will have its Open House on Thursday, December 5th from 6:00-8:00pm. This is a great opportunity if your student wasn't able to attend the recent field trips in November or if your student enjoyed their visit and wants to investigate the program in depth. Do you have a maroon Graduation cap and gown hanging in the closet and you don't know what to do with it? The High School is having a donation drive to allow all students to have access to a maroon gown. We would like to encourage all of our families that may have a maroon gown that is no longer in use to consider donating them to the high school for our students. Donations can be submitted to Mrs. Bowman at the welcome center or Mrs. Santantonio in the main office. We will are taking donations immediately and will publish a list of available sizes to students as soon as possible.

It is never too early to order the memories that will be with you for a lifetime. Although the year is new, make sure you have all of the memories that are part of the 2019-2020 school year simply by purchasing a 2020 yearbook that is currently in production. Sales are open now until May 1, 2020. To have a name stamped on the book cover, order no later than 30 April, 2020. Prices are as follows:

$75.00 until December 1

$80.00 after December 1 – until sales end May 1, 2020.

Talent Show Fundraiser – Each year, the NAHS PTO produces an evening of singing, dancing, music and more featuring our high school students – That’s Entertainment! The show will be Friday, January 10 at 7pm in the McCoy Center for the Arts. We really need your help to make this event a success. Please sign up to volunteer on January 9 or 10.

Marco’s Pizza Donation – Marco’s pizza is hosting a fundraiser for us December 16, 17, and 18 to help raise money for more teacher grants and student scholarships. Take a break from cooking and order dinner online at Marcos.com, select the New Albany/Hamilton Road location, and click on “Fundraisers”.

Grab and Go Breakfast for Teachers – We will be providing a Grab and Go Breakfast for all NAHS staff during the busy week leading into winter break. Help us show our appreciation for all their hard work by donating an item or two. Please sign up to drop off items December 16 or 17.
