To view the list of athletic schedules, go to the OHS Website and select the tab for Athletics. Use the drop-down arrow and you will find schedules for each sport that is offered.

Spring Sports: A reminder that OHS spring sports begins March 22nd! In order to try-out, students must be registered on Final Forms, all parent forms and athlete forms must be completed and an updated physical (within 13 months) must be on file with our school nurse. Spring sport registration will close on March 14th to allow our athletic department enough time to medically clear athletes prior to the first day of try-outs. Since January 7th, sophomores were given the opportunity to begin creating their Sophomore Demonstration. This is a graduation requirement that takes place during advisory. Each 10th grader must submit their Sophomore Demonstration presentation to the Class of 2027 before Thursday, March 20th at 7:00 a.m.

Presentations will begin in advisory on Tuesday, March 25th. Click on the "classwork" tab to easily find the assignment and where to post the presentation.

Please note: If a student does not upload their presentation on time, they will not be able to present in their small advisory group. Instead, they will be presenting to an advisory committee consisting of administration, the advisory coordinator and faculty members. In addition, if they fail to present on their assigned date, or do not pass the rubric, they will be presenting to the advisory committee. Remember this is a graduation requirement at Oxford High School. Please email Mrs. Batista or your student's advisor with any questions.

As a reminder from Nurse Dani, students are NOT allowed to carry medication with them. Please fill out forms on PowerSchool if you would like your student to have Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen or Tums in school. When you log on to PowerSchool, go to forms and check off the boxes if you would like your child to receive any of these medications when in need.

Please be aware that these medications may only be administered if the forms are completed on PowerSchool. Verbal permission is not accepted.

CT State law requires that all students in 10th grade have a physical assessment. This assessment serves to document adequate immunizations and any health issues that may impact your child while they attend school. The physical exam must be dated after January 01, 2024. The front of the HAR form must be completed and signed by a parent/guardian. The second page must have all *asterisks areas completed.

As a friendly reminder your child must be fever free (without medication) and has not vomited within 24 hours before returning to school.

If your child needs to be dismissed early, please send them to school with a handwritten note. Upon arrival, your child should bring the note to the office to receive a dismissal pass.

Please note we cannot accept emails or phone calls for early dismissals.

If a note is not provided, parents or guardians must come to the school in person with a valid driver’s license to sign their child out.

Career Speaker Series: If you are interested in speaking to a group of students about your career path, please email Sarah Angeley at angeleys@oxfordpublicschools.org. We are looking for a variety of professions. Speakers will be virtually interviewed for 10-15 minutes at 10:10 A.M about their line of work. We are scheduling interviews on 4/2, 4/23, 4/30.

Parents: Please encourage your child to sign up for First Responder Friday during FLEX on March 7th, 14th and the 21st. Students will be able to be interactive with some of our local first responders and learn about possible career opportunities. If your child is thinking about going into Nursing, Law Enforcement or just looking to volunteer somewhere to help their college application, this is the occasion for them!

FLEX Period: The School Counselors will be offering open office hours during the FLEX period in the LMC to address general questions related to course selection/college and scholarship applications ect.

Junior Parents:

Individual Student/Family Post-High School Planning Meetings: Meetings are being held virtually or in person. Students should schedule their appointments now through our calendar links during their free period. The appointment link is titled Post Secondary Planning Conference, which is a 40 minute time slot. *Students are required to complete the OHS Brag Sheet (posted in the Class of 2026 GoogleClassroom) prior to their meeting. This is the revised letter of recommendation packet that will be used by counselors and teachers.

Sophomore Workshops: Counselors will be working with Sophomores this month on career exploration. Please check your child’s Naviance account for updated career related surveys.

Scholarships: All scholarships received by the OHS Counseling Department will be listed in Naviance. Students should check their Naviance accounts weekly throughout the winter for new opportunities.

February is recognized as Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention month. Current statistics reflect that 1 in 3 adolescents is a victim of abuse by a dating partner. Teen dating violence can include isolation, any form of physical harm, possessiveness, extreme outbursts, extreme jealousy, and using digital communication to control. Booster Club Fundraiser: Here is an easy fundraiser to help support the Booster Club and it will not cost you any money. Senior Planning Meeting: The Booster Club is having a Senior Activities Planning Meeting on Wednesday, March 5th at 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at the high school. All are invited to attend to discuss senior activities that include information on graduation signs, a picnic, collages and much more, including the Senior Lock-In. Spring Bingo - Thursday, April 24: Come join the excitement on April 24th at Riverside Firehouse located at 151 Coppermine Road in Oxford for a fun-filled evening with 10 rounds of bingo. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and bingo games start at 7:00 p.m. Bring your favorite beverages (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic) and snacks, and enjoy the convenience of our available ice machine. Enjoy a night of great raffle baskets and exciting door prizes while supporting our Senior Lock-In. The cost is $40 per person and includes 10 rounds of bingo and a dauber. As we enter March, Oxford High School has several upcoming announcements and events. First, we celebrate National School Social Worker Week March 2-March 8 by recognizing the invaluable contributions of our dedicated school social workers! The theme for 2025 is “Unite to Ignite: Celebrating Our Impact.” Our social workers play a crucial role in supporting the well-being of our students, helping them navigate challenges, build resilience, and achieve success inside and outside the classroom. Their compassion, dedication, and advocacy ensure that every student has the support they need to thrive. Please take a moment to express your gratitude to our incredible social workers, Nicole Connolly, Randi Kubick, and Maria Mauriello, for the positive impact they make every day.

OHS extends our congratulations to our Robotics team who competed in the state Robotics competition this past Monday and Tuesday at the Total Mortgage Arena in Bridgeport, CT. Out of 10 matches, the OHS Robotics team managed to come away with three wins and a tie score putting them in 71st place out of 100 teams. During the skills challenge event, the team was able to rack up 30 points which put them in 40th place out of 100 teams. The event was two full days of intense competition, but our OHS team stayed strong and never gave up. A big shout out to Michael Rojowski for being the main drive controller of the robot while mentoring one of our up and coming drive controllers, Ark Patel. Coach Jurewicz and Coach Lucarelle would like to congratulate the team on a job well done for making the state competition and competing to the very end!

On Monday, March 3, and Tuesday, March 4, our World Language Department will be administering the Seal of Biliteracy test to current juniors and seniors enrolled in either Italian or Spanish. The CT Seal of Biliteracy was established by the State Legislature in 2017 to allow school districts to recognize and celebrate students who have demonstrated the ability to communicate in two or more languages. This recognition appears on the student’s transcript and a Seal from the State of Connecticut is affixed to the recipient's diploma. All recipients are also recognized in the graduation program.

Lastly, a reminder that OHS is hosting spring Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, March 5, from 12:00-2:00, and Thursday, March 6, from 6:00-8:00. The window to sign up for conferences will close this Monday, March 3, at 8:00 a.m. Please click HERE for more information.
