Health News
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a viral illness that primarily affects children but can occur in people of all ages. RSV often causes cold-like symptoms in older children and adults. Most people have been infected with RSV by age two, usually during outbreaks in the winter months (November-April). In older children and healthy adults RSV resembles the common cold. However, in babies, young children (and people with weakened immune systems) RSV symptoms may include fever, wheezing, difficulty breathing, and pneumonia.
Please notify your family practitioner, especially if severe respiratory symptoms arise. As always, follow our wellness policy: 24h fever free without use of fever reducing medication. HOWEVER, please consider keeping your child home until your child is well enough (eating and taking fluids well) to resume usual activities during their day, and excessive coughing /symptoms have subsided to ensure a healthy return. Hydration and rest are best. Reach out to your healthcare provider or Nurse Kristen Lynch with questions or concerns.
Please use our absence line (978-251-5188 Option 0) or email (chipsattendance@chelmsford.k12.ma.us) to report your child's absence from school and be sure to state the reason for the absence (illness, appointment, travel, etc).
Nurse Kristen can be reached by calling the CHIPS main number (978-251-5188) and selecting option 3.
From the PTO
The CHIPS PTO will hold its next meeting at CHIPS on Monday, December 9 at 6:30pm. There will be a virtual option as well.
