OUR MOTTO IN THE YOUTH ROOM, 'NEW YEAR, NEW US!'
After many chats and brainstorming (along with some purging and a lot of cleaning) we kicked off our new year of RE with some big changes in the Youth Room!
The Youth & Teens were shocked when they walked in to see bare walls, but are excited for the change and are looking forward to contributing and implementing THEIR input, ideas, and suggestions!
Our motto was even more perfect for the many new faces joining us in EDGE & HYSG! I am so excited to share this new year of Religious Education with each and every one of you.
See you Sunday! -Mrs. Beth
ANNOUNCEMENTS
SAFE SUNDAY OPT-OUT
EDGE & HSYG will have Safe Sunday this week using materials approved by the Diocese to assist in teaching our Youth & Teens about appropriate and safe behavior to prevent abuse of all kinds.
Scroll down to the EDGE & HSYG sections below for more information and to preview videos.
If you would prefer your Youth & Teens do not participate in Safe Sunday, please complete and submit the opt-out form below before Safe Sunday videos begin on Sunday, September 22nd.
Any who Opt-Out and attend EDGE or HSYG on September 22nd will instead participate
in a faith-based activity in a seperate area outside of the Youth Room.
WE NEED YOU!
EDGE is still in need of assistants. It would be ideal for us to have 3-4 volunteers who could rotate with others requiring a committment of only 1 Sunday per month.
Per the Diocese policy for the safety of everyone, a minimum of 2 certified adults are required to be present for all Youth Ministry activities.
Please prayerfully consider completing your certification, and/ or asking individuals who you think would be a willing volunteer. Or, you can submit suggestions for me to contact. Thank you. -Beth
Many thanks to Shannon & Rob Blackburn for blessing us with their ongoing assistance in HSYG!
ORATORY BEGINS THIS WEEK!
Ages 5-17 years old are invited to Oratory at 1pm every Saturday at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Learn more about Oratory (including the schedule) by viewing the link below.

EDGE - MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP
RECAP FOR SEP 15
It was so nice to have the EDGE class back in the Youth Room!
We opened with prayer and had a nice chat of what they can expect for this year of RE. They even chimed in to share their thoughts and ideas with each other!
Next, we moved to the Social Hall. It was a lot of fun playing Pterodactyl and Run Around the Mountain! See video below
We then returned to the Youth Room to close in prayer. Each of the Youth received a handout to take home to their parents that included the Safe Sunday Opt-Out form and the 2024-2025 RE calendar. Printable PDF's of both are available below.
This fantastic group of Youth are off to a great start of New Year, New US!
COMING UP ON SEP 22
Youth in EDGE will first participate in a Fire Drill
and then view Lessons 1, 2, 4, and 6 from Grades 4-6
of the Protect Yourself Rules video series during class time at 11am.
We will then complete accompanying activities & discussion.
Parents may preview the videos in the link below.
The Opt-Out form and information can be found in the Announcements section above.
Please ensure Youth have appropriate outdoor attire for the Fire Drill.
HSYG - HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP
RECAP FOR SEP 15
Last year there was never a dull moment when HSYG was in the Youth Room, and thankfully they maintained this norm with their return last Sunday!
We began in prayer with Mrs. Heather who had stopped in to encourage the Teens who have not yet been Confirmed to consider receiving the Sacrament this year. We then discussed what can be expected for HSYG this year. They provided all of us with lots of really good input and suggestions!
Because we have so many new additions, we went around the room naming something from the Bible that shares the same first letter as our names. We went around again but this time sharing the most boring thing about ourselves!
Next, we moved to the Social Hall for our version of Spike Ball before returning to the Youth Room for some Free Time and to close in prayer together. See video below
Each of the Teens received a handout to take home to their parents that included the Safe Sunday Opt-Out form and the 2024-2025 RE calendar (a specific to HSYG calendar will be coming soon). Printable PDF's of both are available below.
The blessing of 2 new-to-us couches donated to the Youth Room this summer was made even more apparent when we almost filled all FIVE thanks to so many Teens present, but there's still plenty of room so we'll be saving seats and praying that even more Teens will be joining us soon!
COMING UP ON SEP 22
Teens in HSYG will view two short films for Teens
titled Are you ok? and Are you listening? from 4:15-5pm.
We will then complete accompanying activities & discussion.
Parents may preview the videos in the link below.
The Opt-Out form and information can be found in the Announcements section above.
