Gratitude

Dear Families,

November is the perfect month to learn about gratitude. Thanksgiving reminds us of all the the reasons to be thankful. At Dunham, we have so much gratitude for everyone in the school community to support us in our effort to provide a first-rate education--students, families, and staff.

During their weekly counseling lesson, students will learn what gratitude is and how to show it. You can also help your students at home to regularly embrace and display gratitude. Here are some ways families can work together to learn about gratitude:

1. Saying Thank You--Whether to a teacher, friend, family member, or a strange, reminding students to say thank you for small acts of kindness helps them develop a habit of appreciating others. Saying thank you could mean in person or with a thank you note.

2. Helping Others--Gratitude isn't just about what you say, but it's also about what you do. Students can show appreciation by helping classmates, assisting teachers, or contributing to the school community in small but meaningful ways.

3. Being a Good Listener--Sometimes, showing gratitude means simply giving someone your full attention. Listening with empathy and care can make others feel valued and respected.

Encouraging gratitude at school and at home can help our children develop into compassionate, thoughtful, and kind individuals.

End of the Day Office Chaos

The end of the day tends to be hectic at all schools. Effective immediately, we ask that parents not call the office after 1:15 pm (12:15 on Wednesdays) if plans are changing for how your child will be getting home. After 1:15, we will be unable to give teachers messages about changes. To cut down on any confusion, please make sure that plans for how your child will be getting home before school begins in the morning. Thank you for your help!
