Seniors Prepare for Post Secondary Life
On Monday, our senior class participated in the first-ever “Adulting Day,” an event designed to teach essential life skills that are often not part of the traditional school curriculum.
Students rotated through five interactive stations, including:
-
Auto Care – Provided by S&S Auto who volunteered time, where students learned how to change a tire and jump-start a battery
-
Self-Defense – Led by the Secaucus Police Department
-
Household Basics – Presented by our own Ms. Oakes and Ms. Bacigalupo
-
Gardening – Facilitated by Partners in Prevention
-
Arrive Alive Virtual Driving Simulator – Sponsored by SHS PTSA, Secaucus Youth Alliance, and Secaucus Coalition which allowed students to safely experience the dangers of distracted and impaired driving
Special thanks to all our presenters, staff and community partners, including the Secaucus Police Department, S&S Auto, Partners in Prevention, Arrive Alive, as well as our sponsors: the PTSA, Secaucus Youth Alliance, and Secaucus Coalition. Your contributions made this valuable experience possible for our students.
Hudson County Law Day Contest
Congratulations to the 2025 Law Day Writing and Art Contest winners, sponsored by the Hudson County Bar Association. This year's theme, "The Constitution’s Promise: Out of Many, One", inspired students to reflect on the unity and shared values that define our democracy. Student winners were honored on Law Day, May 1st, during a special ceremony held at the historic Justice William J. Brennan Jr. Hudson County Courthouse.
Performing Arts Students take Field Trip to NYC
At the start of the spring season, the performing arts students at SHS performed The SpongeBob Musical to enthusiastic audiences. The students involved both on-stage and off-stage worked tirelessly to bring this show about friendship and community to life. We are so proud of the stellar performances from the student actors, as well as the coordination and commitment from our stage crew and student tech crew.
As a special treat for their hard work, these students took a field trip to see the musical Smash on Broadway, featuring a former student from our performing arts program - Nicholas Matos. The students were thrilled to meet him and other cast members afterwards. A great time was had by all!
"After the Fire" Assembly
We are grateful to the Secaucus Fire Department for their continued support in funding the annual After the Fire assembly. This powerful presentation featured survivors Shawn Simons and Alvaro Llanos, who shared their personal experiences and emphasized the importance of fire safety. Our students found their message both inspiring and informative, gaining valuable safety tips that apply whether they’re living in a dorm or on their own.
We appreciate the Fire Department’s commitment to student safety and education year after year.
Fall Sports Preparation
Students interested in participating in fall sports are reminded to see Mrs. Scheiner in the Guidance Office to obtain and submit the required athletic paperwork.
Be sure to complete all forms in a timely manner to ensure eligibility for tryouts and practices.

As always, please reach out to me with any questions.
