Staff Spotlight
February Students of the Month
The following students have been recognized by their teachers for exemplifying the 4 Bs of Monticello: Being Responsible, Being Respectful, Being Safe, and Being a Learner. Congratulations to this month's outstanding winners!
Climate & Culture Survey For Parents
Each year, we gather valuable feedback through climate and culture surveys from our students, parents, and staff. The insights we collect help guide the development of our school improvement plans. We would greatly appreciate it if you could take a few moments to complete the parent climate and culture survey. The link to the survey is provided below. Thank you in advance for your time and thoughtful input!
Spring Student Led Conferences March 13th
Spring Conferences will be student-led and have been thoughtfully prepared during advisory classes. Your student should have already shared the scheduled time for your conference, which will take place between 12:00 PM and 6:30 PM. If you have not yet received your scheduled time, please contact us at 360-575-7056. Each conference will last 13-15 minutes, providing students with the opportunity to reflect on their progress, celebrate their achievements, and set meaningful goals for the future.
Student-led conferences are a great way for students to take ownership of their learning, develop communication skills, and gain a deeper understanding of their academic strengths and areas for growth. These conferences empower students to be active participants in their education, fostering a sense of responsibility and motivation to reach their goals. If you have specific questions for a teacher, please feel free to reach out to them directly via email. Thank you for your support in this important process! Our goal is to get 100% participation.
School Safety Is A Top Priority
At Longview Public Schools, the safety and security of our students and staff is a top priority. Creating a safe school environment takes all of us working together – families, staff, and students. Simple actions like keeping emergency contact information updated, staying aware of your surroundings at school, and encouraging responsible social media use can make a big difference. Having open conversations with your student about reporting concerns, whether in person or online, is also key. Most importantly, if you see or hear something concerning, say something. Together, we can keep our schools safe, supportive, and a great place for students to learn and grow.
Sports At Monticello
Track
The first track practice will be held on April 14th after school, and all students— including 6th graders—are encouraged to participate. Athletes must submit their paperwork online, and it is important to ensure that we have a valid physical form on file in the office. If you have any questions, please reach out to our athletic secretary at 360-575-7041 or by email at crogers@longview.k12.wa.us.
Girls Basketball Photos
Our basketball team will be finishing up their season on March 17th. The team has shown tremendous improvement throughout the course of the year. Check out some of the pictures that were taken at their games.
RESPECT at Monticello
The character trait that we are emphasizing in March is RESPECT. We will be teaching students how to show consideration for others feelings, wishes, and rights. At times, students struggle to develop appropriate ways to communicate with their peers and with our staff. We will focus our attention on helping students work through conflict while being respectful of others.
Evening of Excellence 2024
It was a pleasure to see everyone at our 2025 Evening of Excellence Awards Night! The event allowed us to celebrate students who have worked tirelessly to grow and improve during the first semester. This aligns with one of our key goals: to honor student success. Another goal of ours is to foster positive connections with both students and families. To support this, we invited local organizations to share information about the valuable resources they offer to our community. We hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did. Below are some photos from the event for you to enjoy! Additionally, we’ve included a short survey and would greatly appreciate your feedback. Your input is valuable to us as we continue to improve and build on these events.
Positive Office Referrals
We are proud to recognize students who have recently received a positive referral for demonstrating excellent character and making outstanding choices at school. Each of these students have made a significant impact on our school community, and their commitment to making good choices sets a fantastic example for others to follow to help build a positive culture at Monticello.
