Eagles Friday Update!
Lanesville Elementary School February 14, 2025
Message from Dr. Holder
Dear Families,
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our parents and teachers for the incredible "Friendship Parties" this afternoon! Your involvement and support made these events truly special for our students, and we are grateful for the warm sense of community.
As we continue to feel the impact of this cold and flu season, please be aware that there may be some delays in updating attendance records. We are working diligently to get everything entered as quickly as possible, but it may take longer than usual to reflect in Harmony. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s attendance, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email or give the school a call.
Thank you again for your understanding and continued support.
Soaring Together,
April Holder

BE in the Know with Harmony
If you would like daily or weekly updates on school attendance, lunch accounts, grades and school discipline then sign up through Harmony. Log in to Harmony and select the menu tab, scroll down to notifications profile, set your profile settings as desired, then save your updates.
Our grading practice allows students to reassess if they get below a 70% on an assessment. The teachers will reteach and offer a retest. The grade can be replaced up to a max score of 80%. If a student did not put forth effort, refused or rushed then they can be given an option to redo the assessment without reteaching occurring. We also enter a 50% as the lowest grade to make sure that scores are not deflated from one grade.
Counseling Corner
Over the last several weeks, we have been focusing on the third component of our Eagle Pledge: Good Citizenship. This is such a fun topic to teach because there is SO much that encompasses displaying good citizenship.
Recently, we discussed the topic, "Respect," and how that fits closely with displaying good citizenship. We dissected what respect looks like, sounds like, and feels like at school, at home, and in our community. We read the book, "What if Everybody Did That," and had good conversation about the impact of one person's actions and how those can turn into a snowball effect.
Our younger grades began a unit on Feelings & Emotions. We are using an "Inside Out" theme to practice identifying feelings, recognizing facial expressions, and we will wrap up with how to manage some of our big feelings! This has been particularly fun because the movies, "Inside Out" and "Inside Out 2" make it so easy for kids to relate to!
As always, please encourage your children to talk with you about what they are learning in guidance! If you are ever interested in extension activities or other books related to our lesson topics, please don't hesitate to ask! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out!
