PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
We are starting our October Homeroom Challenge: Citizenship! It is a nice way to head into the season of giving and the election. There are two ways for kids to participate. One way is to support the Bath Area Food Bank by bringing in canned pasta. Every year FMS helps with the food drive. It is a great way for the kids to participate in a community supportive activity. The second way is to participate in our mock election. Nominations have already been completed for the most deserving Maine Icon. Students will be voting on election day for their choice. Over the next several weeks students can make a poster, write a speech, or write a song to encourage the students to vote for a particular icon. Icons include the lobster, chickadee, LL Bean, Francis Perkins, Acadia National Park, among others.
Speaking of Citizenship! On Thursday we had several first year students from Morse come over to help out as part of Morse Community Service Day. It was great having students help with two of our garden beds, moving furniture around, and playing with the kids at recess. It is always a great win-win opportunity. Our kids get to enjoy the big kids and the big kids get an opportunity to give back.
As a reminder, there is no school on Monday. We look forward to seeing all of the kids on Tuesday.
