Message From the Principal
OHS Families,
November is a time to say thank you and appreciate family. We view OHS as an extended family of staff, students, parents, and the community working together for everyone to be successful. Please remind your students to check in with their teachers and get extra help during our consultation period held every Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri, from 8:00 to 8:24am. With your support we can help all of our students reach their academic goals this first semester.
Fall sports are finishing up and tryouts for Winter sports are just beginning. Students should check the bulletin for tryout times and see Stephanie Medina in the attendance office for help on required paperwork.
Sincerely,
Kristen Wiedenman
Principal, OHS

Bell Game- 11/8/22
Bell Game is Friday, November 8th and this year we are away this year and will sit on the East side of the stadium. Like other student activities, this game is earned with positive behavior and attendance. To attend the game and/or the dance, you must have not been suspended, have had any structured days, or 3+ lunch interventions, and you have to have positive attendance. Students are still released at 3:30. There are no "in & out" privileges during the game. We will be on assembly schedule.
Don't forget to get your Beat LP shirt and other swag from the student store.
.
SEL Wednesdays
This year we will have Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Days every Wednesday during Advisory, between 1st and 2nd period. You can find that schedule and lessons on the links below.

.
Daybreak
OUHSD has contracted with Daybreak Health to provide mental health counseling services to our students. Counseling services are free of charge and take place via telehealth.
We are excited that the direct referral form is ready for use! This form allows students and parents to submit a referral to Daybreak directly. This can be an especially helpful access point for students that feel more comfortable raising their hand for support in this way, as well as for parents who are seeing needs from their child at home that aren’t necessarily showing at school.
.
Food Giveaway
Oroville High School Food Giveaway- Swing by after school on the following dates and grab some food. OHS is handing out food on Linden (behind the school) while supplies last.
Attendance
Attendance Matters
Good attendance benefits your child’s education. Please call our attendance staff at extension 3310 or 3311 whenever your child is absent. Please provide the following information:
- Child's Name
- Date of the Absence and the Reason
- You can also email us at mdelatorre@ouhsd.net or smedina@ouhsd.net
- Only persons listed in Aeries can excuse an absence.
It is important for parents/guardian to excuse their students' full day absences. Please contact the attendance office within 72 hours to get them excused. Individual period absences need to be cleared between the student and their teacher.
Students not feeling well while at school are to let the teacher know so they can be sent to the attendance office where the nurse can check them or the we will contact the parent/guardian to come pick them up. To avoid texting in class, we will not send passes for sick students.
.
Work Permits
If you would like to obtain a Work Permit, the following steps will need to be completed:
1. Print out and complete both of the following forms:
Forms can also be picked up in the Counseling office.
Office Hours 8:00 - 3:00
2. Once forms are completely filled out by student, parents and the employer, they can be brought into the office. After forms have been received, grades and attendance will be checked in Aeries. If you have met the requirements, a work permit will be issued. This work permit will only be valid for the employer that is listed. If you have multiple jobs, you will need one for each job.
