District Website Updates
Hawthorn73.org is under construction! We are working on optimizing our district homepage to make things easier to find. Please keep in mind that many things on the homepage have moved around. This is an ongoing process and we'll let you know once adjustments are finalized.
Educate and Empower Parent/Guardian Education Event!
Our next virtual Educate and Empower Parent/Guardian Event will take place on December 6, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. This session, Childhood Anxiety: A Look Inside the Mental Health Crisis and How Parents Can Help, will be presented by Cherry Hill Counseling. In this session, we will dive into what anxiety is and how it can present from childhood through adolescence. Strategies for children and caregivers will be explored, as well as information on when and how to get professional support. Prevalent issues including social anxiety and school refusal will also be discussed. More details to come!
Substitute Educator Day
November 17th is Substitute Educator Day, a day to honor the incredible individuals who step up to support our classrooms! Our dedicated substitutes help keep our students' education on track. Let's take a moment to show our appreciation for their hard work and commitment. If you know a substitute teacher, be sure to thank them today! Mambo Italiano Restaurant Night Fundraiser
Join the D73 PTO on Monday, November 20 for another Restaurant Fundraiser. 10% of your total bill will be donated back to the PTO. This fundraiser is happening all day, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and it applies to both dine-in and carry-out orders. Just remember to mention "D73 PTO" when placing your order. See you there!

First Kids-Night-Out /Parents-Night Out Event of 2023-24: Action Martial Arts is hosting our very own D73 Real-life Among Us Mission! Be sure to register your kiddos for this amazing event on Saturday, November 18 from 5 - 9 p.m. All kids will get to participate in a real-life Among Us Mission, play games, do crafts, eat pizza and MORE! Erin’s Law - Student Program and Parent/Guardian Information Night
In response to Erin’s Law (House Bill 6193), which requires all public schools to implement a prevention-oriented child sexual abuse program, Hawthorn District 73 is hosting the Be Seen and Heard© assembly program for all preschool and elementary students during the week of December 4, 2023. This program is designed to create an age-appropriate, safe, and engaging environment in which students learn the difference between safe and unsafe touch, and the importance of having trusted heroes.
Middle School Ala Carte Options
In addition to the daily lunch options, middle school students have access to purchase a limited number of ala carte items. These items are available at the price listed for all students, regardless of meal status. Meal Account funds can be added in K12 PaymentCenter.
