Olathe Public Schools
Their Future is Our Future
As we wrap up this semester, I just want to take a moment to thank everyone—our students, families, staff, and community—for your hard work and support. Please watch the video above to hear a message straight from me. I hope you all have a chance to relax, enjoy some time with loved ones, and recharge over the holidays. We’ve got a lot to look forward to in the new year, and I’m excited to continue working together to make next semester even better.
Your very proud superintendent,
Dr. Brent Yeager
Central Elementary School Pay It Forward Club Elves
The Pay It Forward Club at Central Elementary teamed up with the Olathe Police Department (OPD) in December for Operation Secret Santa, raising $5,200 to surprise community members with $100 bills. On Dec. 16, students and OPD officers visited local businesses, bringing holiday cheer to unsuspecting families.
“Our goal was to spread kindness and support individuals and families in the community,” said Principal Brandi Leggett. “We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful for the support we’ve received from the OPD. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to directly contribute to the community and experience the true spirit of giving.”
Students teamed up with police officers to walk through the aisles, handing out money to surprised families and individuals. The students “paid it forward” to community members of all ages.
"God bless them," a recipient said through tears. "I will remember this until the day I die, and I’m 78 years old. I'm so happy. I just have never had nothing like this happen to me and I thank you."

2025-26 Current & Employee Families Internal Transfer Applications Open Jan. 1
Beginning on Jan. 1, current Olathe Public Schools families and district employee families who live in the state of Kansas can complete an internal transfer application for the 2025-26 school year. This internal transfer application will close on Feb. 28. Applications will be reviewed during this time.
Completing the in-district transfer application process by Feb. 28 will prioritize our current families and employee families, while helping the district determine our enrollment capacity for out-of-district students. If you miss the Feb. 28 deadline, a second application window will open July 1-30, after out-of-district applications have been reviewed. For more information about transfers, please visit www.olatheschools.org/transfers.
This application will not be live until Jan. 1. If you have questions, please contact 913-780-7000 and ask for General Administration. As a reminder, the district offices are closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 2. The office will reopen on Jan. 2 and business hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
2022 Bond Update – Thank You!
New Buildings - We’re making great progress on several important projects across the district. Construction on the new Olathe Innovation Campus is moving along well, with utility work completed and exterior and interior construction underway. The building addition’s tilt-up walls and steel installation are expected to finish by December. At Santa Fe Trail Middle School, finishing touches in the new building are being addressed, and the demolition of the old facility is complete. Site grading for the new football field, track, and additional parking is underway.
Aging Facilities - Planning for the Aging Facilities 2025 project is progressing, with construction set to begin in summer 2025. HVAC and roofing upgrades are also on schedule, with work planned for the summer. The districtwide access control migration is nearly complete, with just a few buildings left to upgrade, ensuring a safer, more secure environment for all students and staff.
Middle School and High School Renovations - Renovations for high school media centers at Olathe North and Olathe South are in the works, with bids out and construction expected to begin next semester. Middle school auditorium renovations at Frontier Trail, Indian Trail, Oregon Trail, and Pioneer Trail are also on the horizon, with construction set for Summer 2025. Construction of new tennis courts at Olathe Northwest High School is complete, providing upgraded facilities for our athletes.
We are so thankful for YOU – our community – who voted YES on these bond projects in 2022. To find more information, please visit our website.
