January 24th 2025 Principal's Message
Hello Blevins Families,
I hope you were able to find ways to stay warm during this very cold week. It was a short week, but still a very productive one. Thanks to all families who visited our Parenting a Middle Schooler Night on Wednesday, hosted by our Bruin Club team. This event discussed healthy habits and mental health strategies that support our adolescents. Please be on the lookout for more family events throughout the year!
Please also join us for our PTO meeting on Tuesday at 5:30pm. We're always excited to welcome new families to the conversation. There's no obligation when attending PTO, just great discussions and ideas around supporting our Blevins students and school.
On a last note, I want to reiterate two pillars of our value system that mean so much to us: being Welcoming and maintaining Safety. As a staff, we strive every day to ensure that each student is welcomed and feels safe. We know that when students feel this way, they belong, and their learning thrives. We're always assessing our progress in this and looking at any other strategies to support that process with the goal to meet every student's needs.
As we commit to these values, I want you to know that we will hold a Lock Down drill on Monday. This is a vital protocol that we engage in regularly to ensure that our students and staff are always safe. Thanks for your partnership in this and please know that you and your child can always speak with me about drills and safety.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
Proudly,
Joe Zappa, Principal

9th Grade Registration Information
The time for 9th grade registration has begun! No matter the high school your 8th grader will be attending, we will be working at Blevins to best support students in the big transition ahead. We wanted to make sure we communicated our plan, as well as provide resources for the registration process at each high school. Please see our 9th grade registration information page on the Blevins counseling website for important upcoming dates and additional information.
Important Vision and Hearing Screening Information
We need several more volunteers to help with vision and hearing screening the morning of Tuesday, February 11 from 8:00 am-11:00 am. Please sign up through Raptor. You will receive an email about the screening process shortly before the scheduled date. Contact Becca Dahl, Health Tech, at 970-488-4007 or bdahl@psdschools.org if you have any questions. If your child wears glasses, please be sure they have their glasses at school for the screening.
Thank you! Your help is very much appreciated!
