SAVE Club Fundraiser
The SAVE Conservation Club is selling starter plants of thyme, basil, rosemary, parsley, lavender,
spearmint, and aloe. We grew our plants from seeds and have cared for them since January. Some
plants have done better than others, so supplies are limited for some of the plants. We are selling plants after school on the April 22 from 3:15 to 4:10 p.m. Weather permitting, we will be outside door 1, otherwise, we will be in the foyer inside door 1. Please come by and support our event!
Returning Student Registration Now Open
On April 3, all families should have received an email from District 45 outlining the steps for registering their child(ren) for the 2024-25 school year. If you have multiple children in the district, you received a separate email for each child. If you did not receive the email, please reach out to your child's school office to confirm that the correct contact information is in our system. You may also want to check your junk/spam folders, as the email may have been routed to those locations. If you know that your child will not be returning to their school next year, please reach out to the office to let them know. In doing so, you will assist with planning for student needs for the coming school year. Jackson's main office number is (630) 516-7600.

Stay Current with MMR Vaccine to Prevent Measles
DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) reminds residents to ensure they are up to date with their measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine to protect against measles due to recent cases in Chicago. Measles is a highly contagious viral infection and remains a significant public health concern. DCHD reports that measles is almost entirely preventable through vaccination. By staying up to date with vaccinations, residents can reduce the risk of measles transmission and protect themselves and others from the potentially severe complications of the disease. Measles can spread rapidly among individuals who are not vaccinated, particularly in settings where people gather closely, such as public events, childcare facilities and schools. In Illinois, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) requires susceptible contacts who have not received vaccination within the appropriate time frame to be excluded from school, workplace, childcare facility, or other facilities until 21 days after last exposure to a measles case. Vaccination can safeguard individual and community health by preventing outbreaks of measles. See a Fact Sheet on measles.
Free Mental Health Services for D45 Families
District 45 has launched an innovative mental health initiative to provide and improve access to quality mental health services in our community. This new free program, called CARES (Community, Advocacy, Resilience, Engagement and Support), connects families to local mental health providers based on their specific needs and will help schedule appointments. CARES makes it easy for families to find help and support without trying to do it on their own.
Treatment providers are independent licensed clinicians. Services are available at nearby clinician offices or virtually (telehealth) and are 100% confidential. District students and families may receive up to eight (8) FREE sessions of counseling services. CARES is available to uninsured or underinsured families and accepts all private and public insurance options, including PPO, HMO and Medicaid. CARES is made possible through funding from the Illinois Department of Public Health in partnership with the DuPage Regional Office of Education and Referral GPS. For more information or to access mental health services, visit the District 45 CARES page and complete the “Treatment Request” to get started.

Attendance
A friendly reminder that it is the responsibility of a parent/guardian to contact Jackson in the event his/her child will be absent from school. Please plan to report your child’s absence, prior to 9:00 a.m., by calling our attendance line at (630) 516-7368. Parents/guardians will leave a voicemail reporting their child’s absence. In the voicemail, please include the following information:
Child’s name and grade level
Date of absence
Reason for absence
Student absenteeism should be kept to the minimum; however, the School Board recognizes that some absences are unavoidable. The following are valid causes for a student's absence and will be considered “excused,” as specified in Section 26-2a of the Illinois School Code:
Illness
Observation of a religious holiday
Death in the immediate family
Family emergency
Other situations approved by the school principal
