Final Exam Exemption Policy
Final Exam Exemption Policy
- Students can exempt semester final exam(s) IF
- Student has an A (90% or greater) in the course AND
- Teacher is giving a final exam AND
- Teacher is participating in the exemption incentive AND
- Student has no major discipline for the semester (i.e. no more than 4 detentions, no Saturday Campus detentions, and no ISS or OSS during the semester of the requested exemption). This includes discipline issued from another building.
- Students need to communicate with their classroom teachers to determine if they are eligible and to have the teacher add the student to the shared Google Exemptions document if eligibility has been met.
- Students must be in attendance the day of their exemption. During that particular final exam, the student may:
- Remain in the classroom to study for any other final exam
- Go to the final exam exemption activity location
- SAMS students may attend their SAMS location if additional hours are needed. This must be approved by both their SAMS teacher and the SAMS coordinator for the building ahead of time.
Due to current attendance policies and procedures, students will not be required to maintain a 96% attendance rate in order to qualify for the final exam exemption incentive at this time. Because of state attendance requirements for public schools, however, students will be required to be in attendance at the time of the exempted final in order to use the exemption.

Summer School Information
A Google form was emailed home on Thursday, April 4th to gauge interest in summer school. If you would like your student to participate in summer school because they failed a course and need credit recovery or they are interested in other options, please complete the Google form (https://forms.gle/32XtiuhhTaqU6AL19) and let your student's counselor know how you would like to be contacted with the information.
Student Parking
Students, if you drive to SCHS, please be aware of where you are parking. We have had several complaints from residents who live around SCHS about students parking in places that are designated for residents. In some cases, these residents' driveways are being partially blocked. Please only park in areas which are not designated for residential parking. Officer Love will be randomly checking these areas. Also, you must have paid for a spot in the student parking lot to park there. Students are assigned these spots. We will be randomly checking the lot to ensure a parking pass is displayed. Thanks for you help.
Lunch Time Reminder
During lunches, please stay in the cafeteria. You are welcome to come up to the Commons to visit the Galley or use the restroom. After you do so, return to the cafeteria. Your lunch period is NOT time to roam around the building. There are classes going on and it is disrupting when there are people in the hallways. PLEASE stay in the cafeteria. If you are found roaming the hallways, you may receive consequences.
Food Service Update
Please see the message below from Chartwells:

Varsity Tutors
The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has facilitated comprehensive access to Varsity Tutors for all districts within the state. This invaluable educational resource is available to students throughout the 2024-25 school year. Access is seamlessly provided through individual student accounts linked to Clever (https://clever.com/in/stcharlessd), ensuring a streamlined and secure authentication process.
It is important to note that this resource is intended exclusively for student use, and the district does not have the capability to monitor individual progress. Nonetheless, in an effort to enhance user experience, we have implemented a user-friendly single sign-on feature through Clever, simplifying the login process for students.
Parents are encouraged to actively participate in their child's education by assisting them in selecting lessons that cater to their specific needs for additional support. This collaborative approach empowers parents to contribute to their child's academic success, particularly when engaging with the platform from the comfort of home.
