Week 7
Good Afternoon, Falcon Family,
As we welcome October, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our parents, parishioners, and teachers. The school year has started off wonderfully, and I am truly grateful for the unwavering support from our parish community. This is a special place, and I love serving as your principal. THANK YOU for your prayers and support!
Support for Mrs. Camacho
As many of you know, Mrs. Joana Camacho, our beloved office manager, is courageously battling breast cancer for the second time. We invite you to join us in supporting her and her family during this challenging time. All proceeds from t-shirt sales will go directly to her medical expenses and care. T-shirts are available at the school office. See flyer below.
How to Order:
- Email: chobart@spnok.org
- Payment Options: Cash, Check, or Venmo
Thank you for your generosity! Mrs. Camacho’s resilience and unwavering faith are an inspiration to us all.
Pray Walk Talk Reminder
We are excited for Pray Walk Talk tomorrow! Volunteers should arrive by 11:00 AM. If you have any questions, please reach out to Angie Tomlinson, our Parish Nurse, at parishnurse@stphilipnerimwc.org or call 405-455-2394.
Important Notes:
- Students will have lunch at the park; please provide a disposable sack lunch (no lunch pails or reusable bags).
- Our PK3, PK4, and Kindergarten students will stay at school and enjoy pizza.
- We will be wearing our Team Camacho T-shirts. If you don’t have one, they’re available for $20 in the office. If not wearing a Team Camacho shirt, students can wear their regular spirit or uniform shirt, paired with black or dark colored shorts, gym pants, or uniform bottoms. Please, no leggings!
St. Vincent de Paul Society Collection
Tomorrow is the final day for our St. Vincent de Paul Society food collection! Kindergarten, PK, and 4th grade are in a close race for the most items donated. The winning class will earn a pizza party!
Holy Fire Confirmation Retreat
A reminder for our 7th and 8th grade families: If you’d like to register your child for the Holy Fire Confirmation Retreat, please do so HERE and select St. Philip Neri Catholic School as your group. Our 6th graders are already registered.
New Desks
A huge thank you to our parent and parishioner volunteers who helped move our new desks last weekend! We successfully swapped out 110 old desks for 110 new ones in under 45 minutes! Our 1st - 8th grade classrooms are now equipped with 180 new desks!
All Hallow's Eve
A brief history lesson on Halloween... All Hallows Eve, or Halloween, originated from the Catholic tradition, specifically linked to the Feast of All Saints on November 1st. It serves as a vigil for this feast, honoring saints and reflecting on their intercession. The observance of All Hallows Eve (Halloween) on October 31st and All Saints Day on November 1st emphasizes the Church's belief in the communion of saints, the spiritual connection between the faithful on earth and the saints in heaven. All Saints Day honors all saints, known and unknown, encouraging believers to emulate their virtues while reinforcing the belief that saints intercede for the living. All Hallows Eve serves as a vigil, inviting reflection on eternal life and the saints role in guiding those on earth. These celebrations, along with liturgical practices such as prayers for the deceased, foster unity within the Church and highlight the hope of resurrection and eternal life for all believers.
With all that being said, we are looking forward to our All Hallows Eve celebration on Saturday, October 26th. We love the traditions of the candy and trick-or-treating and there is nothing against dressing as fun family friendly cartoon characters or superheroes, however dressing as a witches, zombies, mummy's etc... would be making a mockery of what the Church believes. We are asking that the students please dress as their favorite Saint or Biblical figure. We are not changing the event, we are simply re-focusing the event. We are excited to see what creative saintly costumes our students will come up with! PTO will be sending more information in the coming weeks.
Thank you for reading our Falcon Newsletter. Have a wonderful day!
