We are thrilled to announce that our school's renovated library is officially open and ready for PCK students to enjoy! The newly updated space is a beautiful learning environment that will support our young learners in their educational journeys for many years to come.
Some of the exciting updates include new bookcases, which provide ample storage for our vast collection of books, ensuring that our students have access to a wide variety of reading materials. We've also installed new carpet to create a cozy and comfortable atmosphere, and a mural now adorns the back corner of the room.
This renovation would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our wonderful librarian, Mrs. Kingsbury. She has tirelessly worked to get the library ready in such a short time, and we are incredibly grateful for her efforts.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the PCK families for their generous donations, which played a crucial role in making this project a reality. Additionally, a huge thank you goes out to the PCK Foundation for their successful fundraising efforts, which have made this renovation possible.
We are excited to see our students explore and learn in this newly renovated space, and we are confident that it will become a cornerstone of their educational experience.
As we continue to foster a positive and focused learning environment, we wanted to send a brief reminder about some key standards in our PCK Dress Code. Recently, teachers and staff have noticed that some students have not been following the dress code as closely as expected.
Please remind your student to keep the following guidelines in mind:
- Shirts should always be tucked in when students are inside the building.
- Belts are required if shorts or pants being worn have belt loops.
- Shoes and hair accessories must be in the approved colors only. Semi-permanent hair accessories such as tinsel, and hair extensions are not allowed.
- Jewelry is limited to one earring per earlobe, one necklace, one bracelet, and one ring. Nose rings, other facial jewelry, visible tattoos, and any writing or adornments on the skin are strictly prohibited.
Additionally, with our first Dress Down Day tomorrow here are some important rules to keep in mind to help a student avoid receiving a dress code violation:
- Sleeves or straps on tops must be at least one inch wide.
- For safety reasons, students are not permitted to wear open-toed shoes. This includes flip-flops, clogs (including Crocs), slippers, sandals, etc.
- Shorts, skorts, and skirts must fall past the fingertips when the student fully extends their arms and fingers at their sides.
- Clothing items that are ripped are not dress code compliant.
We appreciate your support in helping your student adhere to these standards. If you have any questions about whether an item is dress code-approved, please feel free to contact our front office staff or review the dress code below.
Hello PCK Families!
The first couple weeks have wrapped up and I have been having such a great time getting to know the kids, giving a ton of high fives, and playing lots of rock/paper/scissors for stickers during lunch and recess! My goal is for the students to view me as a positive part of the school and as someone who is here to support them just like every other teacher and staff member.
As the school year progresses, I’ll be reaching out in the PCK newsletters about a variety of safety information and pass alongs that I’d like you as the families to have and keep in mind. If you ever have any questions or want clarification about anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Warm regards,
Deputy Sandifer
Parents and guardians,
As we continue with the new school year, we have a few important health-related reminders:
- Updated Immunization Records - If your child has received any recent vaccinations, please bring their updated immunization records to the health room. This is especially important for 6th graders, who are required to have a Tdap vaccine upon turning 11 years old.
- Immunization Exemptions - If you are filing for an immunization exemption, please ensure you complete the state module and submit the required certificate to the health room as soon as possible.
Additionally, 6th grade students should bring any necessary medical orders or medications to the health room or front desk by the end of this week. If you have any questions about immunizations or medical orders please do not hesitate to reach out.
We are excited to announce that our fall sports season is in full swing! Volleyball, Soccer, and Cross Country teams have started their practices, and we can't wait to see our athletes in action.
To keep up with practice schedules, game dates, and other important events, please visit our school's athletic calendar, which is now available online. This will be your go-to resource for all things related to our athletic programs. Keep a close eye on this, as additional practices, meets or games may be added in the future.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to a fantastic season!
Homework club will return in September for grades 3-6, giving students an opportunity to work through their homework with a helping hand from a PCK educator. Sessions are now available for purchase via MySchoolBucks.
Interested in helping plan school events, and teacher appreciation activities? Join us for the first PTO meeting of the year. We’ll set the schedule of events, select committee members, and elect new board members for open positions! If you plan on attending our meeting, please fill out an RSVP form.
PTO stands for "Parent Teacher Organization", and plays a vital role in community-building within our school. As a charter school that attracts students from all around Douglas County, it is imperative to create a community fabric within our school. PTO provides opportunities for parents and students to get to know each other through events, meetings, and volunteer opportunities. Please reach out to us if you have any questions at ckcspta@gmail.com.
Finally, we are beginning to take volunteers for Fall Festival. Please feel free to access the volunteer signup below.
On behalf of the Student Accountability Committee (SAC), I want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who joined us for the meet and greet earlier today. Your presence, enthusiasm, and important insights were greatly appreciated.
We are grateful for your interest in SAC's mission to promote engagement in PCK's operations. Your involvement is key to helping us maintain the high standards and collaborative spirit that define our school.
For those who were unable to attend, we invite you to participate in future discussions and meetings. The SAC meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 8:15 a.m. in the MS Commons, and we encourage all of our community who are passionate about our school's continued growth and success to join us. Our mission is to foster engaging conversations about policies that will help PCK to maintain high standards of academic and character excellence instilled in our students.
If you have any questions about participating in SAC, or if you would like to contribute topics or questions to SAC but are unable to attend, please feel free to reach out to Blaise Singer at bsinger@ckcs.net.
