Emergency Days | Last Day of School
When a day(s) is missed due to school closings (known as “emergency day”), the day(s) will be made up at the end of the school year, in accordance with the approved calendar.
At present, due to the District utilizing three emergency days so far this school year, the last day of school is Thursday, May 30.
Principally Speaking
Wednesday everyone would have received an email either from me, introducing and welcoming you to the Fox Ridge community, or from Zac Minnelli the Munhall principal. Below there are a few updates regarding next years PTO's, if you are interested please reach out using the listed email.
As I have maintained our Lincoln staff is remaining present in this year, we acknowledge the beginning to transition and welcome our next steps. Yesterday we celebrated the 95th year of Lincoln educating elementary aged students. Although this year will represent an end of an era we are continuing to do great things with our students. We started our play practice this week, running club will begin after spring break, and there are many celebrations left in our final 2 months.
I wish everyone a wonderful week off, if you are traveling please enjoy the quality time with your family, if you are staying close, take the time to slow down and relax. I am looking forward to the break and then to return for the final stretch of the year.
Please call the Attendance Line to Report an Absence
If your student is going to be late or absent, please call 331-228-2500 and press 1 to report the absence and the reason. Leave a message on the attendance line as soon as possible that morning or the night before. Thank you for your help in verifying absences from school.
Cougars Reading Club
Keep encouraging those good reading habits! Ask your student about what he or she is reading and fill out THIS FORM to verify it. In the spring, we will celebrate the students' diligence with an in-school field trip to a Cougars game.

Lincoln Runner's Club
It's that time of year again and we are looking for all 3-5th grade students that are ready to join us for Spring Run Club! Run Club will be after school on Mondays from 4/1/24- 5/13/24. We will meet from 3-4pm each Monday and we will be walking/running laps to get us ready for the 5k at the end of the season.
We will walk from Lincoln down to the grassy open space at the bottom of the sledding hill at Langum Park. All students will need to be signed out and picked up from the park at 4pm.
Our goal is to finish out the season on Thursday, May 16th with the She Runs the Fox 5K. This run is sponsored by the Fox Valley Trail Runners and takes place along the river in Batavia. Families will need to register for this race independently of Lincoln Run Club. The students did great and had a BLAST last year at this running event!
Please complete the Google form to enroll your child in the Lincoln Run Club before Friday, March 22nd. We will be meeting the first Monday back from spring break so we need to have all students signed up and ready to go!
We look forward to a great season together!

In our second semester we are recognizing students who are working hard on their iReady. This is an online resource, that has a personalized pathway for students to work on both reading and math. It is recommended for students to complete 45 minutes in each contant area. Students work on this at school and at home, we encourage you to check in and see how they are doing, and encourage them to complete the required minutes, as it is a proven way to improve skill development.
Each week we will recognize 2-3 students per classroom on the previous weeks work. Below are our first group of students that are iReady Rockstars!

Lincoln Reminders
Pick up and drop off procedures
The car line on the north side of the building is for drop off, please do not park your car and get out. If you feel like your child needs assistance getting out of their car seat or you need to get out during the process please park your car in the library lot and you can walk them over to the door.
When picking up for an appointment early
If your son or daughter needs to leave school mid-day for an appointment, please understand that we will not call your child down to the office until you are here. Time in school is very limited and every moment counts, once you are here we will call them and promptly have them come down to leave with you, but we do not want to call ahead because often they are missing valuable instruction waiting for the pick up due to unforeseen circumstances. Thank you for understanding.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION TO BEGIN IN FEBRUARY
Parent Education Sessions
District 303 is pleased to present its lineup of Parent Education sessions for the 2023-2024 school year.
The Parent Education series (formerly Parent University) includes informational meetings and workshops intended to empower parents and guardians to support their children’s academic, social and emotional needs. Become informed on specialized topics, engage in two-way dialogue with speakers and fellow parents, and become a support resource for others.
The District 303 Board has approved boundary maps for elementary, middle, and high schools. Maps are effective with the 2024-2025 school year beginning this fall. The Board's decision completes a process that began last fall to reduce school overcrowding and help to ensure equitable learning experiences across the District. District 303 had contracted with demographer RSP & Associates to create concept maps based on Board-approved guiding principles and community feedback. Please see the parent notice from Superintendent Gordon to learn more and review the approved maps.
A Nursing Note
Dental Examination Requirements
Students in kindergarten, second, sixth and ninth grades must submit

Dental exams must be completed within 18 months prior to May 15th.
Family Contact Info - Please verify for your family!
District 303 would like to remind families to make sure the contact information you’ve provided is up-to-date. We want to ensure you’re getting timely alerts on important notifications.
Prior to the start of class, District 303 will send test messages through its mass communication system to the contact information you have on file (email, text and phone). This is the way the District and your child’s school(s) contact you when sending mass messages simultaneously.
Visit the Home Access Center website for information on how to view and edit your contact settings.
View Notification Preferences/Enable Text Messages
District 303 will send notifications to families through the ParentLink system by text message, phone call and email based on your settings. Parents/guardians can view and edit their contact settings through the Home Access Center.
To receive timely emergency communications, we strongly encourage families to enable text notifications. For most people, this is the fastest way to receive and view important messages. Here’s how:
- From the HAC main menu, select the “registration” tab to view your contact settings
- Select the “edit” button to change your contact settings
- To enable text message notifications, enter your cell phone number in the Cell/Text field
- Select the “save” button
