STAAR information
All 8th grade students will take the 8th grade Social Studies STAAR test next week on Wednesday, April 16th and the 8th grade Science STAAR test on Thursday, April 17th. Please take note of the following information for STAAR.
Students must bring their Katy ISD Chromebooks to school fully charged! It is district policy that students charge their Chromebook every night and bring them to school daily. Please ensure that your student charges their Chromebook every night, but especially the nights before STAAR. Students should bring their Chromebook charger to school in case the computer did not fully charge the night before.
We will have a closed campus during testing which will begin at 8:55 am and conclude at 1:05 pm. Students will not be able to check out for appointments during that time, so please make adjustments if needed. Students will go to their 6th, 7th, & 8th period classes.
Off campus PE students are able to check out at the end of 7th period which is at 3:15pm.
Students will receive their testing rooms during advisory on Monday & Tuesday. There will be maps posted and teachers stationed around to assist students with finding their rooms on Wednesday and Thursday morning. You can check your students testing room using this link: https://tinyurl.com/STAARSCISSAJH
-Electronic Devices: Students will turn off all personal devices during the STAAR test and they will be left in their backpack. Please keep all tablets, personal laptops, interactive watches, and phones at home if possible.
-Snacks: To minimize messes and sticky fingers on computers, please send your child with a single serving dry/healthy snack each day (Ex: Goldfish, cheez-its, pretzels). Students may also bring a reusable water bottle with water in it to drink during the test. Large amounts of snacks, like a family size bag of chips, will not be allowed into testing and will be held in the office for student pick up at the end of the school day.
-Books: After students complete their test, they will be allowed to rest or read a book until the entire class is finished. Please make sure they bring a book to school, especially on testing days.
-Review: If you would like more information regarding district assessments, please visit the district's assessment website at https://www.katyisd.org/Page/4263. If you would like for your student to practice using the online testing platform at home, please use this website to access online practice and released tests: https://www.texasassessment.gov/practice-tests.html. Please see the linked directions on accessing the Cambium Practice STAAR at home, in both English and Spanish.
STAAR Dates:
April 16th: 8th grade Social Studies STAAR
April 17th: 8th grade Science STAAR
April 23rd: 6th-8th grade Math STAAR & Algebra EOC
If you have any questions, please contact one of your child's teachers, or our Campus Testing Coordinator, Candra Maly, at candrajmaly@katyisd.org.
Thank you for your help making this a successful testing experience!

Quiz Bowl
I am excited to share some fantastic news regarding our Quiz Bowl team. On April 5, 2025, our team participated in the state Quiz Bowl tournament, and I am proud to announce that they earned an impressive 3rd place finish!
The competition was fierce, but our team demonstrated incredible teamwork, knowledge, and determination throughout the event. Their hard work and dedication truly paid off, and this achievement is a testament to the skills and commitment they bring to every challenge.
We are thrilled with their performance and are looking forward to even greater success at the National Competition in Chicago in May. Thank you for your continued support of our Quiz Bowl team. We couldn’t have done it without the encouragement and resources provided by Adams Junior High.
Please congratulate the Quiz Bowl Team members. Attached is a picture of the team.

Lost and Found
We have a lot of items sitting in our lost and found. We will be bagging it up getting ready to send it in a few weeks. If your child has lost an item, please encourage them to come and look in the lost and found located in the cafeteria.
Important Information Regarding Proof of Residence
For families that are currently enrolled using a Bona Fide or Affidavits for residency, it is time for renewal documentation to be submitted for the 2025-2026 school year. Please be on the lookout for an email with a Snapcode and directions on what is needed to submit required documentation. We ask that you complete the renewal before the end of school so your child is ready for the 2025-2026 school year. If you have any questions about documentation needed, please check out Katy ISD Registration-- General Requirements page.

Responsible Use Guidelines
Responsible Use Guidelines
This is a reminder that chrome books are intended for school use only. Any student who attempts to circumvent the established digital safeguards or uses their chrome book in a manner not directed by their teacher will be violating the responsible use guidelines and will receive discipline consequences starting at a 1-hour detention in compliance with the Katy ISD Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct.
Student ID Procedures:
Secondary students must wear their ID badges at all times during school hours, while on school property. If a student loses the ID, a replacement must be purchased promptly from the designated school office/location. Students must have their ID visible and ready to go at the start of 1st period. If, for any reason, a student does not have their ID with them in the morning, they will be required to purchase a new ID. Parents will receive an email with a Pay N Go link to conveniently pay $3.00 for the replacement ID. Failure to follow these procedures may be considered a violation of the Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct. For more information regarding student ID badges, please review the Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct
The drop off of ID's will not be accepted at the front office after 8:55.
Volunteer Information
Katy ISD requires all volunteers serving on or off-campus during or after the instructional day to register with the district through its Raptor security system.
Once registered and approved, individual volunteers can:
• Sign up as a campus volunteer by completing the volunteer recruitment form provided by your campus organization(s) or contact your campus volunteer coordinator.
• Track hours via their volunteer profile for every Katy ISD campus at which they volunteer
• The system also provides quick and easy submission of individual off-campus volunteer hours
Deliveries
Parents may only deliver food for their own student.
Deliveries from parents to students may be dropped off on the shelf outside the front office.
Students are responsible for retrieving their items off the shelf during passing periods or lunch.
We cannot interrupt instructional time to notify students of deliveries.
Students may not have food delivered from outside entities such as Domino’s, Door Dash, Uber Eats, etc.
No large quantities or party trays accepted.
Cash and electronics cannot be dropped off.
