A Note from Mrs. Fragomeni
Families,
I’m excited to share some great news! The Rec Center roofing construction project that was originally scheduled to begin on May 15th has been postponed until summer. This means there will be no changes to our school day or routines for the remainder of the year...what a relief!
Please disregard the updates shared in last week’s newsletter. We’re grateful that this new timeline will allow us to finish the year strong without any disruption to student learning or end-of-year celebrations.
Thank you for your continued support and flexibility. More details about the summer construction will be shared once finalized. For now, let’s celebrate a smoother finish to the school year!
Go Blue Jays!

Culture & Diversity Festival = Success!
The Culture and Diversity Festival on Thursday was absolutely amazing! It was heartwarming to see our community come together to learn about and celebrate so many different cultures and traditions.
A huge thank you to the Burton PTA DEI committee, especially Ellie Mosko and Tiera Moultrie (committee chairs). A special thank you to Ms. Koretz and Mr. Torres for their leadership with the Diversity Club. We’re also incredibly grateful to all the families who created beautiful booths to share their heritage with us. Your time, energy, and creativity brought the event to life.
From the vibrant music and delicious food trucks to the laughter and smiles all around, it was truly a night to remember. Thank you for making it so special!
Leader In Me - Parent Survey
Burton is implementing a whole-school transformational process called the Leader in Me, which teaches 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.
Our school will be conducting surveys to learn more about key areas of strength and areas of needed growth in our school. In order for us to have a holistic picture of what is going on in our school, we are asking all full-time staff members, parents/guardians, and students in Grade 4 and up to participate.
Parent Participation
If you decide to participate, you will be asked to complete a survey (without sharing your name or other identifying information) that will be available through the weblink below. The survey is completely voluntary, but we do hope to get feedback from one member of every household.
The parent/guardian survey takes about 12 minutes to complete and will ask questions about your child and about his or her experience in our school. If you have more than one child attending the school, you will be asked to think about the oldest child's experiences as you answer questions related to his or her growth.
Please take this survey by tapping the button below.

Field Day Volunteers
K-5 Helpers Volunteer Here:
Burton's Field Day would not be a success without our wonderful volunteers. Your child's classroom room parent is arranging for a water bottle wagon, a volunteer to pull the water bottle wagon, and water balloons. Thank you room parents!
We need 300 toilet paper tubes or paper towel tubes cut in half for our pasta relay. If you can help out, please send them in with your student/s. There will be a box outside of the gym. If you would like to run a game, please sign-up below. Volunteers, if possible, please wear a red shirt on field day in order to stand out as one of our amazing volunteers.
TK Helpers Volunteer Here
Miss Posey's parents, your games will be in front of the HW Recreation Center. If you would like to volunteer to help with the TK games, please sign-up below. We appreciate your help. We could not do it without you!
Preparing for Field Day & Fan Zone
What to Wear and Bring to Field Day:
On this day please have your kids wear their Fun Run t-shirt. No t-shirt, no problem. Your child can wear a shirt of the same color, a Burton shirt, or a past Fun Run shirt. Your child should bring a labeled water bottle, tennis shoes, and a change of clothes in case they get really wet at the water game stations. In addition sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses may be a great choice for your child.
Fan Zone:
Field Day is a special Day for kids and families. We welcome friends and family to come watch the Burton Blue Jays participate in a day of fun and games. In order for the event to run smoothly and safely, please enjoy the opening and closing ceremonies from the sidewalk behind the track or the outside lane of the track (our torch runners need lane 1) and the games from anywhere on the track. It might be fun to bring a blanket or camp chair and move around the track during the games, as needed, to get the best view of your athlete/s. If you prefer to be in the mix, consider volunteering at one of the kids' games. We could not do it without our fearless parents! Thank you in advance.
Questions or Concerns:
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mrs. Grabowski, Burton's PE teacher, at tracy.grabowski@berkeyschools.org or 248-837-8620.

Kiss & Go Procedures
Please use the Kiss & Go to safely drop off students each morning. Please follow the procedures below:
- Drop off your child in the "Drop Off Zone," see picture above.
- Pull forward as far as possible before dropping of your child.
- Burton Traffic Team is there to help assist, therefore staying in your car is best.
- Students should exit on the passenger side, if it's not possible, they are to cross behind your vehicle.
- If parking in the parking lot, please use PEDESTRIAN CROSSWALK. This helps to safely cross students and families and help us control the flow of traffic. Please be patient while backing out of parking spot, student drop off and safety is priority.
- After drop off, parents - please use the PEDESTRIAN CROSSWALK too. This helps to control the flow of drop off traffic.
- Please do not "frog jump" or pass a car waiting to drop off.
- No right turn from 8-8:30am and 3-3:30pm.
A big thank you to the Burton Traffic Team! Each morning they are outside at the Kiss & Go drop off to assist families and greet our Blue Jays! Thank you Mrs. Grabowski, Mrs. Murphy, Ms. Stinebaugh, and Ms. Terry!

Burton Spirit Wear Shop
The spirit wear shop features Burton's updated logo. The crest, much like the classic football clubs, signifies the strength and lineage of our community. The bricks proudly represent our school building, the welcoming front sign, and the iconic clock tower—a true testament to our heritage. And, of course, our Blue Jay has been given a modern look, embodying the spirit of growth and innovation that defines us.
Let's show off our Burton pride!

Food Service
Please see the documents below for the allergen information for lunch and breakfast.
Tuesdays = Dominos Pizza
On Tuesdays, Domino's Pizza will be among the five food choices students can select. All students ordering pizza will receive ONE free slice and a vegetable, fruit, and milk. If your child would like an additional slice of pizza (2 slices total), they must preorder it in the morning and have at least $2.00 in their student account. On Tuesday mornings, classroom teachers will ask students if they would like one slice or two. This is helpful so the lunch team is accurate on the total pizza slices to decrease food waste.
To add funds to your child's account, please access the Parent Portal.
