Community Connection
Child Advocacy is offering a free parenting workshop, Making Parenting A Pleasure. This is a 7-session class designed for parents, grandparents, and caregivers with children aged 0-8. Grounded in the Strengthening Families Protective Factors Framework, which recognizes the critical and vulnerable nature of early childhood development, this class is set to provide participants with:
- Informational, Social, and Emotional Support
- Guidance in Parental Self-Care
- Tools for Creating a Positive, Nurturing Environment
The next class will begin on Sunday, September 8, 2024, 5:30-7:30pm at Child Advocacy. Subsequent sessions will take place every Sunday from 5:30-7:30pm, with the final class scheduled for Sunday, October 20, 2024.
Registration for the fall cohort is required. If you or someone you know is interested in this transformative parenting class, please use this link to register:
ATC/DART Riders
It has been communicated to us by the director at ATC/DART that they will no longer be sending us a rider list for the afternoon.
If you have signed your student up to ride the ATC/DART bus home from school, you must contact the main office to let us know.
Thank you!
Title 1 Parent Information Night
Homecoming Parade - September 20
The Alma High School Student Council advisor has shared that for the Homecoming parade on Friday, September 20, the old Middle School block (Pine Ave, from Downie St. to Hastings St.) is designated as a quiet block. There will be no sirens, horns, or loud music on this section of the road. This is to provide students/adults with noise sensory sensitivity a place to watch and enjoy the parade.
Family Connection
Bedtime Routine
Brush, Book, Bed: How to Structure Your Child's Nighttime Routine: healthychildren.org
- Having a predictable nighttime routine can help your child understand and learn to expect what comes next. Also, routines may ease the stress that some families experience at bedtime.
- Brush, Book, Bed, a program of the American Academy of Pediatrics, recommends this simple ritual at the end of the day:
- Each night, help your child brush their teeth.
- Read a favorite book (or two)!
- Get to bed at a regular time each night.
APS App/Rooms
Please make sure you are using and checking the APS app, Rooms. This is the way your teacher will communicate with you throughout the year about all the great things going on in your classroom. If you have any questions about the app please contact the main office, 989-463-1012.
Also, make sure to turn on notification!
