Art Museums
Art class with 2nd graders learning about art museums & creating miniature pieces of art to display in art room
Rainforest
Second graders at Callahan Elementary look forward to this annual room transformation. Students learn about various habitats around the world, particularly the rainforest. At the end of the first unit, students embark on an adventure through the rainforest, identifying animals and listening for sounds unique to the habitat. They also research and create dioramas representing different habitats. This unit is an engaging way to begin the school year.
Symmetrical Citrus
Fifth-grade students in Mrs. Whicker's art class painted symmetrical citrus slices while learning about complementary colors. They understood that placing complementary colors side by side creates high contrast and makes the colors appear brighter. Students mixed white with the colors to create tints.
Forensic Science
Mrs. Workman's Forensic Science class practiced photographing evidence.

“T” Party
To celebrate learning the letter "T" in phonics this week, Ms. Moore's class held a "T" party during snack time. Students brought teddy bears, drank "tea" (apple juice), and ate Teddy Grahams. They counted the Teddy Grahams to ten and used them to form upper- and lowercase T's, while coming up with other words that begin with T.
Blood Drive
Patriotic Students
Several history classes at Yulee Middle School honored September 11 with classroom rotations, small group work, and guest speakers who shared their experiences from that day. This was a moving and powerful experience for both students and staff.
On Constitution Day, September 17, the school participated in a red-white-blue spirit day. History classes dedicated special lessons to this important day, ensuring students were well-informed and engaged in learning about the nation's history.
Repeated Words
In Ms. Hooper's fourth-grade English class, students learned how to identify the central idea by boxing repeated words. This strategy helps students focus on key concepts. Additionally, allowing students to stand while working provided a change of pace and kept them energized.

Multi-Sensory Monday
Southside had an excellent turnout for its first Multi-Sensory Monday of the year. Teachers learned various strategies for engaging students through different forms of engagement and scaffolding. Special thanks to Ms. Schreiber, Ms. Cochran, and Ms. McGee for leading the hands-on stations.
Honesty
The focus this month is on honesty. Students selected as Student of the Month demonstrated the value of being honest. Congratulations, Bobcats!

Resiliency
The kindergarten team at Hilliard Elementary has been diligently working on the resiliency standard HE.K.R.1.1, which focuses on defining and providing examples of kindness and caring. The team created a vet and baby care center rotation, where students practiced being responsible and caring through an independent activity.
Hope Week
Growing Salads
Students at Hilliard Middle Senior High School have been growing, harvesting, and packaging lettuce in their agriculture program. Their hard work produced Romaine, Bibb lettuce, kale, dandelion leaves, and other greens, which were used to create fresh salads.
National Beta Club
Bryceville Elementary recently held its National Beta Club induction ceremony with sponsors Mrs. Smith and Mrs. White. On October 1, 2024, twelve were inducted into the National Beta Club at Bryceville Elementary. These students were selected for membership based on their academic standing and character and joined more than 500,000 members across the United States and beyond. National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth group in the United States. Its mission is to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. The ceremony focused on Beta's four pillars - achievement, character, leadership, and service. BES's Jr. Beta Club participates in numerous service projects throughout the school year, including Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives. The following students were inducted: Brentley Crews, Jase Dean, Jace Patrick, Briar Thompson, Peyton Schaffner, Nathan Davis, Kinsley Gainey, Anaston Sweat, Nathaniel Stout, Hazel Van Sickle, Luke Wilson, and Timothy Dorsey.
Kindness Club
The over 60 5th Grade Kindness Club members at Emma Love Hardee have had a busy start to the 2024-2025 school year! Students meet monthly and begin each meeting with thank-you notes to staff members. In August, they walked in the parade for Poe Pinson. In September, they collected items to send to our troops for Christmas. Last week, they were challenged to show kindness to others during the hurricane days. Students stepped up and removed debris from yards, rescued sea creatures, and even took time to paint bowls for Barnabus and decorate luminaries for Mera’s Mission.
Purple for their Principal
The Second-Grade teachers and students at Yulee Primary School kicked off Principal's Month by showing Mrs. Grubbs how much she is valued, appreciated, and loved. We honored her by wearing her favorite color, purple, and making it Vicki Grubbs Day. "Hands down, Mrs. Grubbs is the BEST PRINCIPAL in town!"
Olympic Open House
Yulee Elementary hosted its annual Open House this week in full Olympic style! Students visited classrooms, the Library, and the art and music rooms. The coach hosted a 50-yard dash competition, and we even had a guest visitor….Sting! It was an amazing night!
