Mustang Messenger for Parents

The mission of Mitchell Road Elementary School is to educate all students in a safe, inclusive learning environment while challenging them to be lifelong learners, prepared for their future as compassionate, respectful, and self-disciplined citizens.

For American Education Week this year we are excited to celebrate the hard work of all of our Mitchell Road staff who work together each and every day to see our students be the best versions of themselves. Please see the flyer above for ways we will be celebrating each day!

Tomorrow, Monday, November 18 is our next Chick-fil-a spirit night with PTA at the Pelham Road location! Between 5-8pm, pick up dinner and take a night off of cooking all while supporting Mitchell Road! If you order on the app, write a note that you are part of Mitchell Road Elementary' s Spirit Night. If you order in-person or through the drive thru, mention it to them when you are ordering and our school will get a portion of the proceeds from the night.

We're in need of some volunteers to help with the upcoming Thanksgiving Feast. If you're available on one of the days that you're not already eating with your Mustang, we'd love to have you join us!

Thank you to everyone who sent in pictures of veterans for our slideshow! Here is a link to the slideshow for anyone who needs it.

Our MRES Talent Show will be performed twice on December 19 at 8:30am and 10:00am! Auditions for the show will be on Friday, December 6. Students interested in auditioning have had the opportunity to get a form from Mrs. Cooley. However, if you need another copy - here is the link. Only students who have turned in a completed application to Mrs. Cooley by Thursday, December 5 will be eligible for an audition.

The Student Council Food Drive is going strong! There is less than a week left. The Food Drive will end on Tuesday, November 19. Students may bring non-perishable items to the hub and put them in the box of their favorite team between Carolina or Clemson. We look forward to seeing how our Mustangs can work together to support a local community organization.

As of now...Clemson is BARELY in the lead!

Parents, we are excited to welcome you for our Thanksgiving Feast starting this week! Please enter through the back door by the gym. Be sure to arrive about 10 minutes early so that you can check in and get your ticket. You will check-in at the table located there and receive your pre-purchased tickets. There will be a limited number of tickets sold each day. If you need to purchase a ticket the day of, please help us by having exact change of $5.27 per ticket. Only cash will be accepted on the day of each event. Parents will wait outside the cafeteria for the class to arrive. Each class’s name will called out as they arrive so please listen closely. The Lost and Found will be on display so please take a look to see if you recognize anything that belongs to your child.

If it is not your student's Thanksgiving Feast day, they will be getting a bagged lunch to eat in the classroom. *Note: Except for special circumstances, we will not be mixing days because it throws off the lunch schedule and academic instruction.

We look forward to welcoming our guests into school for this special tradition!

Next weekend our Run Hard participants and Lego Club members will be competing in their competitions! We are so proud of how hard they have all worked and know they will do great. Good luck Mustangs!

This month we will focus on the character trait of team work! Teamwork is the ability to work in unity with others towards a common goal. For us to learn how to become team players, it is important that we learn to listen, encourage our peers, and allow and invite others to contribute their talents and skills. Check out these newsletters to learn more about how you can talk about this important skill with your child: English version and Spanish version.

• Mitchell Road provides free breakfast and lunch to all students.

• Breakfast is from 7:00-7:45am each day.
• At the 7:35am bell, the cafeteria switches to bagged breakfasts to help get students to class on time.
• If parents would like to join students for breakfast or lunch, please sign in at the front office with your ID. Parents cannot walk with students to class after eating. All parents must say goodbye at the cafeteria door and sign back out at the main office.
• If students would like to purchase additional servings or snacks, they must have money on their lunch accounts. You can do this by sending in cash or check to the cafeteria or by adding money to the student's account on MySchoolBucks.
• Meal prices for adults this year will be $3.10 for breakfast and $5.27 for lunch.
  

• The weekly newsletter can be translated to a variety of languages. Please click the "Translate" button on the top right side and select your language.

• Please be sure any transportation changes are sent to the teacher, in writing the day of the change. We cannot accept these over the phone.
  
• No early dismissals will be allowed after 1:45pm.
• Dismissal begins at 2:15pm. If you are not here by 2:35pm, you will need to go to the office with your driver's license or car tag to sign your student out.
