This newsletter is a duplicate of the message originally sent on Monday, December 2, at 4 PM. A technical issue impacted delivery to some Upper Moreland families, but the issue has now been resolved. We are resending newsletters to ensure all families have received the weekly updates from their student's school building, and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

We are excited to begin our December goals! Classrooms will work to earn 50 pawprints to receive a classroom reward. Individual students can earn 3 pawprints to receive a brag tag!

Patience is a skill that children develop over time and is defined as the ability to wait for something without getting upset. And the challenge to develop it may be increasing in our modern world, given that kids have immediate access to so many things that have led them to expect instant gratification 24/7. It's important to teach children patience because it helps them learn delayed gratification, which can be beneficial for their health, relationships, and future success. It's Book Fair & Holiday Shop Time! Join us for a special family night where families can shop at our Library Book Fair & the HSA Holiday Shop. This "one night only" event will be on Wednesday, December 4th from 5:00-7:00 PM. Hope to see you there!

Sponsored by the UMES HSA - Students at the Primary and Intermediate schools will have the opportunity to shop for anyone on their list, with their classmates during the school day!

Are you looking for a fun and FREE family event for when it gets dark early and the weather is cold? If so, we have an exciting educational opportunity for you and your children! The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, with the support of Montgomery County Community College, is excited to invite you and your family to the Code Connect Protect event on Wednesday, December 4th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell! This FREE interactive event is designed for families for K - 6 students to inspire curiosity and creativity, and get students engaged in the exciting worlds of Computer Science, Cyber Security, and Digital Citizenship!

What to Expect:

• Play and Learn about computer science, cyber security, and more in a “science fair” format with stations run by community partners.
• Hands-on activities with robots and other kid-friendly coding tools that are perfect for young learners.
• Career connections for students to explore exciting possibilities in technology.
• Bonus: Free dinner will be provided for all attendees!

The Upper Moreland Chapter of Art Goes to School is an all volunteer, non-profit organization that brings art enrichment activities to the Primary and Intermediate students of the Upper Moreland Township School District in Montgomery County.

We are looking for new members to join our Upper Moreland Chapter of Art Goes to School. We meet in the evening at Upper Moreland Intermediate School about once per month from 7 PM - 9 PM (usually on a Monday). A big part of our monthly meetings is spent learning about the artworks in our portfolio and how to best present them to our Primary and Intermediate students. Then each spring in April or May, we present the artworks to the PS and IS students during one of their regularly scheduled Art classes.

• Along with school lunch, our cafeteria also has a variety of snacks and ice cream that are available for purchase. Did you know?

  • You can load money onto your student's account through School Cafe.
  • You can set restrictions for when and how much they are allowed to purchase snacks/ice cream.

We're excited to announce that we have transitioned to a new platform for processing applications and renewals.

If you have already been approved and are in our system, no action is required. The change only applies to new applicants and those renewing their applications.

For assistance with the online volunteer registration, please refer to the Volunteer Guide for an overview, or contact Human Resources Specialist, Matthew Mastrogiovanni, at mmastrogiovanni@umtsd.org for support.

• Attendance: Student absences, late arrivals, and early/change of dismissals should be reported in writing to the Upper Moreland Primary School attendance email at: psattendance@umtsd.org. It is recommended to also CC your student's homeroom teacher. Please make sure to include the student's first and last name as well as the homeroom teacher name. *We strongly encourage parents to send notifications and notes to this email prior to or on the day of a student’s absence.

• Student ID Badge Replacement: log in or create an account on the online fee payment center, (Payment center is available through the district website main page), select ID Replacement, follow directions to submit the $5 fee.

• Moving? If your family is planning to move out of the district or within the district, we need to hear from you in advance. Likewise, if your child will attend a private school, please also let us know in advance. Please use this link to learn what is needed for a smooth transition.
