No person should have to choose between being hungry and being clean.

Once again, École Braemar Elementary is proud to support Soap for Hope which provides a personal hygiene gift bag to everyone who comes through the doors of the Family Services of the North Shore Christmas Bureau.

When: November 5th – 15th

Please bring a new, full size personal care item to school and drop it into the classroom bag that has been provided. All items will be donated to the Christmas Bureau to be given to families in need.

Full size items in need are shampoo and conditioner, body wash (preferred over bars of soap), deodorant, shaving cream, disposable razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body cream, and sunscreen. Extras like sweet treats, hot chocolate, candies, tea, cookies etc. are also welcome.

We are quickly approaching the end of the first term. Students and staff are preparing for the upcoming conferences with classroom teacher(s).

Please ensure that you sign up for a conference as your participation with your child is a valuable opportunity to meet with your child's classroom teacher(s) and celebrate your child's strengths, progress and learning goal(s).

Please remember that conference dates are as follows:

• Wednesday, November 13
• Thursday, November 14
• Monday, November 18
• Tuesday, November 19

Dismissal time for all these dates is 2 pm.

When you are attending the conferences in person, please be sure to look at the Lost and Found display that will be set up in the mezzanine on the second floor.

Autumn has been unusually warm with sun filled days. That said, we are heading into colder, wetter autumn days and it is important that students dress for the weather. All students should be prepared to go outside during recess and lunch on most days, with the exception of severe weather days. For younger children, a spare pair of socks and clothing is strongly encouraged as they often are attracted to the inviting puddles in the playground!

On another note, please ensure that your child arrives at school on time. The first bell goes at 8:50am and the second bell at 8:55 am when formal instruction begins. Please do not send your child early to school as there is no supervision available both in and outside the school.

If you know that your child will be absent, please be sure to log your child's absence on Safe Arrival.

If your child has a scheduled appointment that does not occupy the entire day, we kindly request that you consider sending them to school for the remainder of the day. Maintaining regular school attendance plays a vital role in ensuring your child's success, and minimizing missed opportunities is of great importance to us. We enthusiastically welcome your child to attend school, even if it's only for part of the day, when appointments are scheduled during school hours. Thank you for your cooperation in continuing to support your child's educational journey.

School-wide Winter Concerts:

• Wednesday December 18th or Thursday December 19th
  
• Primary Winter Concert: 1:15 pm (grandparents); 5:30 pm - 6 pm (parents)
  
• Intermediate Winter Concert: 2 pm (grandparents); 6:15pm - 7:00 pm (parents)
