February 2025
Message from the Principal
Welcome, February!
A huge thank you to Jill Greenquist, our Parent Booster Group/PTO, our student council and student council sponsors, and all the parents/guardians who helped make the school dance/activity night such a success. What a great way to wrap up January!
It’s so fun to see the kids participate in - for some of them - their first ever school dance! We are lucky to have such a great community at EMS!
February brings parent/teacher conferences (February 11th and 12th)! We are in the full swing of winter with basketball, wrestling, show choir, concerts, community service, and conversations about classes for next year - just to name a few!
Please consider checking your student’s backpack and binder. The start of a new month is a great time to reorganize, clean out, and make sure all supplies are stocked. This month is a quick one! Antlers UP!
Attendance matters
Good attendance is essential for academic success! Students who attend school regularly are more likely to stay on track with their learning, build strong relationships with their peers, and develop important interpersonal skills necessary for future achievement. Don’t forget, every day counts!

Traffic announcement
We recognize that some of the traffic congestion in the upper lot is related to middle school arrival and dismissal. We appreciate the middle school families' cooperation in adhering to this request. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in making our school a safer place for everyone.
Student Shout out
Olivia M, Ella H., Knox H., Navor D., Hayden L., and Lexi R. for their work in organizing a very successful "Disconnect to Reconnect" event at EMS on Wednesday December 18th. This group of students (along with Mrs. Wagner and Mrs. Ras) took care of all the details so that our entire building could spend time connecting OFF screens! Thanks to parents who sent in games and snacks. It was a great event.
This team of students are not stopping at 1 special event! During the month of February, they are orchestrating a Pencil Drive. This project will include a contest to collect the most pencils by homeroom. The collected pencils will be distributed to teachers for classroom use. Thanks to this impressive group of kids for their work in our community!
A Note from the Nurse
It’s not too early to start scheduling your school and sports physicals!
- Students entering the 7th grade in the fall will need to submit a physical exam dated after February 12, 2025 and an updated immunization record including a Tdap booster.
- Students wanting to participate in a sport at the middle school or high school must have a sports physical completed sometime after May 1, 2025 and uploaded to rschool.
**7th graders still need to submit a physical exam to the front office as well, as these are different systems.
**Health records should be submitted to school prior to the first student day on August 12, 2025.
Summary of the School Immunization Rules and Regulations
February is dental health and heart health month! Encourage your children to brush their teeth twice a day, floss once a day, and have a check up with a dentist every 6 months. Encourage eating a healthy diet and getting plenty of regular sleep and exercise to promote a healthy heart.
Thank you!
