LEARWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL
May 24th, 2024
END OF SCHOOL YEAR
It is hard to believe, but in seven school days, the 2023-2024 school year will end. Over the remaining days, students will exposed to exams in their core and World Language classes. Additionally, Learwood will be dismissing students at 11:30 AM, on the last day of school (6/5/24), which will be the end of their 4th period class. Many students ride their bikes to school that day, so if you are dropping off or picking up your child, please pay extra attention in the parking lot and on the streets. We encourage all students to go directly home.

MATH SUMMER WORK
The frameworks in creating these skills and assignments and they are NOT meant to be completed in total. It is meant for a family/student to pick the topics they want to review at any given time. The big thing to stress to students/parents is this is all optional but valuable. Each class contains optional practice problem sets.
In addition, we have “Highly Suggested” skills to complete for students moving from Math 6 into Math 7+ and from students in Math 7 moving into Algebra 1.
CLASS PLACEMENT INFORMATION
We have finalized class placements, and are currently working on completing schedules. Student schedules will be released in August. Students and parents will be able to access class placements for our leveled classes in ELA, Math, and Science through PowerSchool. For each of our leveled classes we look at multiple data points to ensure students are properly placed. If we feel a student has been misplaced, students will be moved up or down during the school year.
In order to view placements, you must sign into PowerSchool through the actual webpage and not the App. Once you have logged in, click on the tab labeled CLASS REGISTRATION on the left. This will show which courses your student has been signed up for, or been placed into. This feature will be live by next Wednesday. For each of our leveled classes we look at multiple data points to ensure students are properly placed. If we feel a student has been misplaced, students will be moved up or down during the school year.

CHROMEBOOK ALERT
Dear Learwood Families,
Current 7th grade students will keep their Chromebook over the summer. If you know that you will be withdrawing your child from the Avon Lake City Schools, please have your child turn in the assigned Chromebook and charger to the Media Center on the last day of school. In order to maintain battery life for next school year, please keep your Chromebook plugged in over the summer.
If your child is a current 8th grader, your child will be turning in their assigned Chromebook and charger on the last day of school to their third period teacher. All current 8th grade students will receive a new Chromebook at the start of next school year. Your child’s teachers will let them know where and how to turn in their Chromebook and charger.
A fee of $250 fee will be assessed for anyone not returning their assigned Chromebook and charger. If you cannot locate the charger the fee is $25.00. Damaged Chromebooks turned in will have repair fees assessed over the Summer.
