Mr. Wawczak Wonders - Episode 2
Halloween Celebrations - Friday, October 29th
On Friday, October 29th, Covington and all District 123 schools will be following an Early Dismissal schedule with students being dismissed at 11:30 A.M. Additionally, that morning we will have our annual Halloween Parade and Halloween parties.
A few notes with this:
- Our Halloween parade is weather dependent. In the case we do have a parade, it will occur outdoors at 10:00 A.M. If the weather does not cooperate, I will let all families know by email no later than 9:00 A.M.
- Students can bring small items or gifts to distribute to their classroom if you choose to do so. However, there are no edible treats allowed
- Students can wear costumes on Friday, October 29th
- Students must still wear their face coverings as required in the building at all times
- Violent costumes are discouraged and students cannot carry weapons as props for their costume

The D123 PTA Council is having a fundraiser at McDonald's. The fundraiser will be this Thursday, October 28th from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. to support the annual scholarship for former D123 students.
The participating McDonald's is located at 10533 S. Cicero in Oak Lawn. When ordering, either present attached flier or just tell them that you are with District 123.
Thank you for your support.
SHIELD Testing
The SHIELD Illinois program is a quick, simple, and non-invasive COVID-19 screening test. Students that have opted-in to the program will provide a small amount of saliva that is tested at a professional lab. Results of the test are then provided to families and our school district within the days following. The program offers students the opportunity to reduce or waive quarantine requirements in the event of close contact with a positive case or if the student demonstrates symptoms. You can opt-in to the program at any time by accessing Online Forms in Skyward Family Access. More information about the SHIELD Illinois program can be found at: d123.org/shield-illinois-testing-program
Parking During Pick-Up/Drop-Off

- Parking or stopping on the school-side of the street on 52nd Avenue is never allowed
- There are designated crossing areas on 52nd Avenue and should use them when crossing the street
These expectations are to ensure the safety of our students and families and are expectations of Covington Elementary School and Oak Lawn.
