Wildcat Weekly
News from Westfield Elementary: May 3, 2024
Westfield Principal Kristen Ulery
Westfield families:
We had an exciting week with two assemblies, so be sure to read about the musicians and animals who visited Westfield this week!
If you have not completed your registration for next year, please do so as soon as possible. We are working on plans for next year, and completed registrations impact our planning for class lists and even the number of sections, so those registrations are very important to us. If you will not be returning to Westfield next year, or you are not sure of your plans, please contact Tessa Carter in the office to let her know.
The weather report is looking good for the next couple of days, so I hope you have a chance to get outside and enjoy the weekend!
Kristen Ulery
Westfield Principal
The ABC Countdown continues
The ABC countdown will continue through the last day of school. This is a fun activity for the end of the school year where we incorporate a theme or activity for each day of the last 26 days of school. The countdown started on Thursday, April 25, and we have an activity for each letter of the alphabet until we reach Z on the last day of school.
Participation in things like dress-up themes is optional, but the whole calendar is below so you know the themes for each day.
It is critical you complete registration for 2024-25 school year ASAP
Thank you to all the families that have completed 2024-25 registration. If you have not completed the process, it is critical you do so as soon as possible. Letters were sent in the U.S. mail with the unique “SnapCode” you will use to complete registration. Register at: www.ccsd89.org/register2425

Westfield fifth graders recognized at IPA breakfast
On April 29th, the Illinois Principals Association hosted a DuPage County award breakfast to recognize students for being good student role models and kind leaders among their peers. Two fifth graders from each D89 elementary school and two eighth graders from Glen Crest were recognized at the breakfast. Congratulations to Daniela Alvarez and Madison Kamin for being Westfield's winners!
Glen Crest band performance at Westfield
On Monday, the Glen Crest sixth grade band played a concert for the Westfield students. Between the songs, the sixth graders demonstrated each of the instruments so students could learn a little about the instruments they could play if they choose to be in band. The Glen Crest students did a great job and showed how far they've come since first learning their instruments.
Animal Quest assembly
On Tuesday, the PTC sponsored an Animal Quest assembly at Westfield. Students got to see and learn about a variety of animals including a goat, a hedgehog, a frog, a tortoise, a ferret, a snake, a duck, and a skunk. Our K-2 students even had the opportunity to pet a rabbit. Thank you to PTC for sponsoring such a fun and educational assembly!
