EDUCATION THAT WORKS!
It's National School Counseling Week!
This week is National School Counseling week which celebrates contribution of school counselors within schools. We celebrate our very own School Counselor, Abbey Allen, who we are very grateful to have here at CVCC! We want to thank Abbey for all the great work she does with our students and staff on a daily basis.
Thank you Abbey!
Quarter 2 Award Recipients
Congratulations to our Quarter 2 "Student of the Quarter" recipients. The Quarter 2 value that was focused on was RESPONSIBILITY. Here is a definition of respect we can use in common:
“Students demonstrate the trait of responsibility by taking ownership of their lives and acknowledging their power to choose what they think (including their attitudes and mindsets), say and do, and their accountability for the consequences of their choices."
Congratulations to the following students:
Conner Allen, Ida Astick, AJ Brooks, Aden Cushman, Camille Edgar, Rune Eschelbach, Isaac Flibotte, Reiss Fuller, Zoey Gallagher, Madison Gilman, Jack Haley, Kaz Jewett, Cheyenne Keller, Hunter Lafond, Colby Laggner, Aiden Lemieux, David Marcellus, James Marcellus, Lilly Mayo, Carson Nuhfer, Zephyr O'Neill, Nick Poulin, Dylan Rogers, Rheia Schall, Eryne Searles, Victor Taft, Leo Trevits, Owen Von Recklinghausen, Amelia Whalen and Pi Woogmaster
National Technical Honor Society
The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is an association for career and technical education students to be recognized for their achievement and leadership, promote educational excellence, and enhance occupational opportunities for the student members.

Cosmetology II
* Cosmetology II Crew Annual Rose Sale**
Supplies are limited; order ahead!
** Cash or checks made out to CVCC Cosmetology II are due when you order. **
Illness
Lots of illness going around - wash your hands and if you have a fever and/or are throwing up, please take care of yourself and remain home until you are 24 hours fever free. If you have been struggling with attendance, make sure to be seen by a Doctor or Express Care to get the absence medically excused. Thank you!
Arriving Late? Check in at the CVCC Office!
When students receive an early dismissal they are required to check in with the front office before leaving. Students are expected to sign in and out of the building after the start of program on the student sign out sheet. It is important for students to sign out so that CVCC knows who is in attendance in case of emergencies.
Annual Surveys
Each January we collect information from our Community Members, Employers/Industry Partners, Parents, Staff and Students to help us understand how we are doing and inform future plans. We do this with surveys to gather input form a variety of stakeholders. Please take a moment to respond to the survey that best applies to your role:

Opportunities in CTE in Vermont
We here at Central Vermont Career Center (CVCC) have some great programs including: Automotive Technology, Baking Arts, Building Trades, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Design & Fabrication: Stone Trades, Digital Media Arts, Electrical Technology, Emergency Services, Exploratory Tech., Medical Professions, Plumbing and Heating, Welding and Cooperative Education. If you didn't apply during our first round, second round applications opened on January 17, 2025.
Did you know that students in our sending region may attend other tech or career centers? If our local tech center does not have the career path you or your student is seeking to follow - another center might. A student may apply to another tech center only after determining that the program is not offered at their local center or if they have been denied access to their choice program at CVCC. What's the catch? Well, transportation. Although the programming will be paid for, you need to find your own way to programs outside of CVCC. If you do have a method of transportation, it's a great idea to check out all of your options!
Here are some of those centers most accessible to our students in alphabetical order:
Burlington Technical Center has Automotive Science & Repair, Aviation & Aerospace, Design, Engineering & Fabrication, Education Training & Leadership and Homeland Security/Criminal Justice.
Center for Technology Essex has Childhood Education & Human Services, Computer Systems Technology, Dental Assisting, Engineering & Architectural Design, Gaming Animation/Web Design and Natural Resources - Forestry and Horticulture or Mechanical and Small Engines.
Green Mountain Technology & Career Center has Business Administration, Computer Networking Technology, Engineering, Forestry & Land Management and Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems.
Randolph Technical Career Center has Criminal Justice/Cybersecurity, Dental Assisting, Design Manufacturing and Fabrication, Diesel Technology, Diversified Agriculture and Education Services.
River Bend Career and Tech Center has Cyber Security, Diversified Agriculture and Natural Resources, Heavy Equipment, and Teacher Education.
Each tech center has it's own spring application process, all of which can be found on their websites. Check out these options for flexible pathways! Check out all of Vermont's CTE offerings at https://vermontcte.com/
Opportunities for Students: Times Argus
Every other Wednesday during the school year, The Times Argus donates a full page to a School District/Supervisory Union. This year CVCC has been added back into the loop! The Times Argus is looking for content for these publications to be provided by students, faculty and staff, with a focus on highlights of CVCC students and their projects.
Students can submit projects that they are working on themselves or, if you have a project that your class is working on that you/your class would like to submit you are welcome to as well!
CVCC will be published on March 12th. Students/classes interested in participating or learning more please email Anna Ryan.
Submissions for this publication should be by no means a public notice or advertisement. The focus should not be on central office business, administrative initiatives, board business, budget appeals or sports.

Sending School Closures
A reminder: Even if your sending school has planned closure, such as Professional Development or School Vacation, and CVCC is open students are expected to attend their CVCC program. You can find school calendar differences on our public calendar.
Snow Days & Delays
If adverse weather conditions cause school to be closed or delayed, an announcement will be made by the Superintendent by 6:30 AM on local television station WCAX and Facebook. Everyone should also receive an automated phone message. If you do not receive a message please call and inform us so we can take care of it.
With a delayed day, the Central Vermont Career Center will begin classes at 9:45 a.m. Breakfast will be available from 9:20-9:40am.
If a sending high school is closed due to bad weather, their students will not be driving to the Career Center in bad weather. Students will be given administrative absence.
If a sending high school has a late start due to bad weather and is sending a bus to CVCC then students are expected to attend CVCC and will be given an administrative tardy.
