Dear Wildcat Families
I wanted to share a communication from the Kentucky Department of Education regarding some recent threats against schools in the Commonwealth. None of the threats have been directed at KSB, but I wanted to let you know that we continue to keep your children safe and are very grateful for our SRO, Officer Paul Wheatley. We recently practiced all of the safety drills and the students and staff did a wonderful job following the routes and knowing what to do and where to go. Thank you always for your support!
(FRANKFORT, KY) β In response to several school threats that have occurred across the Commonwealth this week, the Kentucky State Police and the Kentucky Department of Education have issued the below statements.
βKentucky State Police will continue to work with school resource officers, local law enforcement and school administrators to ensure the safety of all students. As a trooper and a father who has children in our school system, I can assure you that we will take any threat seriously and make arrests where possible.β -Kentucky State Police Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr.
βThere is no greater trust β or responsibility β that can be given to our schools than a parent or guardian saying he or she trusts us with his or her child. While we are concerned about the amount of time our students are missing due to these hoaxes, our primary concern is the safety and well-being of the students and staff members that are in our schools every day across Kentucky. We ask our families to talk with their students about the very real and serious consequences that can happen if they call in a threat against another student or their school. A threat like this can result in a student facing suspension, expulsion and/or alternative placements, in addition to the consequences from our justice system.β -Kentucky Department of Education Commissioner Robbie Fletcher
Have a wonderful weekend!
Congrats to our students of the week!

Hello Folks and welcome to the fourth edition of Dorm Happenings as we have had another fun and exciting week here at Howser dorm on the beautiful and ever-changing KSB campus.
This week has been another fun and exciting week as we welcomed our students back on campus on Sunday afternoon. Our week began with some fun time in the open field and open gym after supper time on Sunday night with various games and activities. Monday was a scheduled visit from Mr./Ms. Aaron and their dogs but that had to be rescheduled, and we did some bike riding and racing events outside with dorm students and staff. On Tuesday we had some more change of schedule events due to the heat, our dorm students played in the recreation gym, and we had opportunities to play ball, ride scooters and bikes and jump on the bouncy mat. On Wednesday we went bowling at 10 Ten Pin bowling alley and we also had pizza and drinks at the bowling alley for our students. We had some really competitive games as Caleb Robinson rolled high game for the students with a high frame of 132 and Mr. Blanton ( yours truly) had high game for staff at 153. It was another fun and successful outing for the students. To end the week on Thursday we had a trip to McDonalds for the elementary wing students and then we finished the night and week off with a movie on our brand new 100-inch movie screen in the recreation gym commons area.
In this week's edition of Dorm Happenings, we would like to give a" BIG HIGH FIVE" and recognize our 3rd shift supervisor Ms. Alice Robinson. Alice has given 29 years of service to the students and staff here at KSB and we appreciate and thank her for all those years of taking care of our students here in the Howser dorm. Ms. Alice loves spending time with her church family and doing outings with her church, she also enjoys music and the ever-changing landscape of technology that keeps her interested and up to date on all the new things going on.
Ms. Alice finds it most rewarding in working with the students and seeing their personal growth and development and offering support for the students while they are on campus. Alice states that she likes to work with students in problem solving areas to help the children make better decisions in life. She also enjoys the part of the job that allows her to collaborate and work with her staff and other adults on campus. You can see in her one-to-one conversations with students and staff that Ms. Alice has a high degree of empathy and kindness to share with everyone on the KSB campus. She enjoys the job of making others happy and enjoys making the Howser Dorm feel like home away from home for the students. We are truly blessed to have Ms. Alice Robinson working with all the students at KSB for the past 29 years. Thank you, Alice, for all you have done and continue to do here for the KSB family.
Until next time.
