All Together Now:
It's time for the 2023 SBS Summer Challenge!
Get ready to read, read, read this summer!
Read this summer, wherever you are, whenever you can! When we get back to school in September we will share our favorite books: ALL TOGETHER NOW!
The challenge is to read at least 750 minutes over the three month period of June 15 to September 15. That is only 8.15 minutes per day for 92 days OR 57 minutes a week (which is less than one hour!!) for 13 weeks . I know you can do it!
Record your time on the ReaderZone app. Our code is a8d8b. Use the Book Bank on the app to keep track of the books you have read. This year we will build our own book bridge with your favorite titles when you come back to school in September!
Calling St. Bart's parents and staff!
You, too, can join the 2023 SBS Summer Challenge - we will be ALL TOGETHER NOW! Register yourself and keep track of your reading using the same code as your students. Let's see how many minutes our adults can read during the three months!
So let's get started!
THIS IS HOW IT WORKS:
We are working with the online reporting system, ReaderZone. It is easy for you or your parents to login the time you (and they) are reading or someone is reading to you on this app.
Download the ReaderZone app onto any Android, Apple or Amazon device. Log into our program by using the code: a8d8b for the 2023 SBS Summer Challenge: ALL TOGETHER NOW!
It will be time to start counting and recording your minutes on June 15.
In the end....
There will be prizes and surprises for readers who complete at least 750 minutes
over the 92 day period!
Read and have fun!
See you in September.
Mrs. Carol Phillips, School Librarian
PS: Remember, don't take the summer slide!
Why do we want you to read?
Because studies have shown that kids who don't read over the summer can lose up to two months of learning by the time they get back to school in the fall.
So prevent that summer slide. Keep reading and you can score higher in reading AND math when you get back to school!
What class will read the most this summer?
Second graders read the most minutes collectively last summer. Let's see what class can top them this summer.
