HES Back to School Night Timing Survey
Please consider completing this brief survey to share your feedback on our earlier BTSN time this school year (5 - 6:30 PM as opposed to 6:30 - 8:00 PM). Thank you for your time.
Early Dismissal Requirements
A safe, precise, and efficient dismissal process requires both communication and clear procedures. For all dismissal changes, please submit your request by 2:30 PM by emailing hesattendance@ucfsd.net. All early dismissal pick-ups must occur by 3:15 PM in order to have a safe dismissal for all our students. Communicating last-minute changes from 3:15 PM onward is extremely difficult and creates confusion for staff and students. We appreciate your partnership.
"Start With Hello" Week
I’m excited to share that during the week of September 16th, Hillendale students and staff will participate in our annual “Start With Hello” week as a way of promoting a welcoming spirit, kindness and inclusivity throughout our school. We hope your children enjoy this special week!
A few highlights from our week ahead include:
- Hillendale staff will be joined state police to welcome students “with hello” at our bus and parent drop-off locations each morning to positively connect students with law enforcement.
- Name tags for all students and staff to help our school community learn each other’s names on Monday, September 16th.
- “Say Hello” lunch each day this week where students will be able to sit and connect with peers from other homerooms they wouldn’t typically get to eat lunch with!
- Whole school read aloud activities during morning announcements on HETV featuring beloved Hillendale staff members (and even Dr. Sanville!) reading picture books that emphasize kindness.
- A buddy activity where older and younger students will partner together to create a Kindness Board with kind messages on sticky notes that others can take when they wish!
- An invitation for all students and staff to wear HES Spirit Wear on Friday, September 20th, both at school and at the UHS Homecoming Football Game to celebrate the conclusion of our "Start With Hello" week!
Elementary Student Activities
As you may be aware, this year we are piloting a Student Activities program in our elementary schools. Throughout the year, programming will run in three, eight-week sessions starting on September 30, January 6 and March 31.
Registration for the Fall session opened on September 3rd and will close on September 20th. You will need to access your child's PowerSchool account in order to register. Instructions and details about our program are located on our Elementary Student Activities webpage.
It's important to know that activities are limited and can only be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. If there is not an opportunity for your child this fall, please check back in the winter and spring sessions.
From now through Friday (9/20) families who have already registered their children for one activity are eligible to sign up for additional opportunities while space allows.
As a District, we find tremendous value in the way that student activities build community, create connections, teach life lessons and help kids to discover their passions. We also feel strongly that student activities are supposed to be FUN.
