November Newsletter
Month in Review/Look Ahead
It's hard to imagine that it's already November! It feels like the year it's flying! This time of year, our school focuses on being thankful. We are grateful for our excellent staff, incredible students, and supportive parents! Each person who is a part of our Sandersville community plays a huge role in our student's success, and we are thankful to have you on our team. Our families are a huge part of the positive culture that makes Sandersville a special place. We had close to 700 people join us on Thursday for the fall showcase. We sang, laughed, and danced the pumpkin patch polka! This month, we are excited about our parent involvement opportunities. Please pay attention to the calendar below and schoolwide messages sent through Dojo and Infinite Campus. In November, we will recognize our veterans, have our first mornings with moms, and celebrate the incredible diversity of Sandersville at our culture fair.
By the end of the semester, each family will have the opportunity for a parent-teacher conference. These meetings are a time when teachers can update you on your student's progress in multiple areas. In the family resource guide linked below, there is a section for questions you can ask to help your student at home and questions to ask the teacher. This is a great resource for your student conference.
Thank you again for all your support. Let's make this a great November!

PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports):
What is PBIS? Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS)is a comprehensive approach to implementing a positive and consistent student discipline system in schools. With PBIS, kids learn about behavior just as they learn other subjects like math or science. PBIS is not a program or a curriculum. It is a team-based process for systematic problem solving, planning, and evaluation. The key to PBIS is being proactive in encouraging a positive school climate. It's also a way to have a school-wide approach in responding appropriately to misbehaviors in classroom and non-classroom settings. Sandersville implements research based strategies to create a safe and productive learning environment where optimal teaching and learning can take place.
At Sandersville, we use our Guidelines for Success to teach schoolwide expectations. This uses the acronym SHARKS (Self Sufficient, Hard working, A+ Attitude, Respectful, Kind to others, and Successful) to guide all members of our school community to reach their highest potential every day!
Sandersville was recognized by the Kentucky Dept. of Education as a PBIS Gold school for the 2023-24 school year! This recognition was for the school's success in implementing PBIS strategies with fidelity. Some data points we'd also like to share from the 2023-24 school year are:
- 96% of students had 0 or 1 discipline referral for the year
- 2.67% of students had 2-5 discipline referrals for the year and received additional PBIS supports
- 1.33% of students had 6+ discipline referrals for the year and received additional PBIS supports
- Top 3 resolutions for responding to student misbehaviors include communicating with families, reteaching the expected behavior, and conferencing with students

Free Breakfast and Lunch for 2024-2025
Our school qualifies for Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) under the USDA’s National School Breakfast and Lunch Program. CEP allows a school’s enrolled students to receive a daily breakfast and lunch meal at no charge, regardless of income or completion of a form. As pleasing as it is to serve meals at no cost to families, the school still must determine eligibility for additional program benefits that your students may qualify for AND to determine funding for your school. It is VERY important that households fill out the CEP’s Educational Benefits Form (EBF).
2024-2025 Instructional Calendar
The 2024-2025 FCPS Instructional Calendar for Students & Families has been set. We will share any changes or updates as we move through the year.
