The first day of school for the 2024-2025 school year will be on Wednesday, September 4th. September 4th through September 6th will be one-session days.

- Full Session: 7:40 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.
- One-Session: 7:40 a.m. - 11:40 a.m.
- Delayed Opening: 9:40 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.
SMS June Staff Member of the Month
Congratulations to the Secaucus Middle School June Staff Member of the Month, Mrs. Sandra Vitulano. Mrs. Vitulano is not only a remarkable educator within the classroom but also a steadfast supporter of our students beyond it. Whether it’s guiding students through complex literary analyses or offering extra help during lunch, her commitment to student success is unwavering.
Moreover, Mrs. Vitulano is always willing to lend a helping hand to colleagues and administration alike. Her collaborative spirit fosters a supportive environment where everyone can thrive. She continuously offers positive feedback and constructive suggestions, enhancing our school community and helping us all to grow and improve.
SMS June Patriot of the Month
Congratulations to the Secaucus Middle School Patriot of the Month, Dylan Thompson. Dylan exemplifies what it means to be a model student. His commitment to excellence and his work ethic are truly commendable. But what makes Dylan even more special is his kindness. He treats everyone with respect and is a loyal friend to his peers. Dylan’s generosity and empathy set a wonderful example for all of us. Dylan, you make our school and community a better place, and we are all very proud of you.
Class of 2024 Memories
Our 8th graders had a year of amazing memories. Let's take a moment to look back on the incredible experiences we shared on our recent trips.
Kalahari Resorts: From water slides to relaxing in the lazy river, our time at Kalahari was an absolute blast!
Philadelphia Day Trip: Our 8th graders enjoyed the rich history and vibrant culture of Philadelphia. The 8th graders climbed the Rocky Steps, explored the Eastern State Penitentiary, and posed with the Liberty Bell.
NYC Lunch Cruise: Sailing along the waters of NYC, we were treated to panoramic views of the skyline and indulgent delights aboard our lunch cruise. It was a picture-perfect day!
8th Grade Dinner Dance at the Highlawn: The 8th graders had a night filled with dancing and stunning views! Thank you to the SMS PTO for helping with this event.

On Wednesday, June 19th, Secaucus Middle School held it's 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony. Check out the video below for a look at our 8th graders expressing their thoughts, reflections, and gratitude. SMS End of the Year Spotlights!
Law Day 2024
On Thursday, June 6th, seventeen students from Secaucus Middle and High Schools attended a ceremony at the Hudson County Courthouse where Judge Jeffrey R. Jablonski presented them with awards for winning contests in creating original poems, essays, rap songs, and art. The contest was open to students across Hudson County in grades six to twelve. The theme of the contest was "How Can Your Voice be Heard in Our Democracy?" Students were judged on their creativity, originality, clarity, and composition. After the ceremony, the judges hosted a luncheon for the winners and their families.
Unified Champions Schools Program
On Saturday, June 8th our Unified Champions Schools Program participated in the Secaucus PBA Special Olympics Harmon Cove Tower Stair Climb for Special Olympics New Jersey. Participants from the entire school community came together to climb flights of stairs in support of this incredible organization. Not only was the event a fun and rewarding physical challenge, but it also helped fundraise for Special Olympics New Jersey.
SMS Art Show
Secaucus Middle School hosted its annual Art Show on Monday, June 10th. There was so much beautiful artwork on display!
6th Grade Trip to Funplex!
Our amazing 6th graders just had the ultimate adventure at The Funplex Waterpark and Arcade! From wild water slides and the relaxing lazy river to epic arcade games and screaming rides, they soaked up every moment of fun in the sun. The SMS Class of 2026 made memories that will last a lifetime. Cheers to a great 6th grade year!
