Jones, Giddings Lead CHHS All-District Volleyball Honorees
Cedar Hill High School's Rylan Jones was named District 6A-11 Hitter of the Year. She was also named First Team All-District, where she was joined by teammate, Tomoni Giddings.
Mariyah Wafer and Briannah Jaggers earned Second Team All-District Honors.
Talia Austin, Ryen Williams, Kenlei Salter, Ryleigh Wilson and Jordyn Lacey received Honorable Mention All-District accolades.
Cedar Hill Girls Basketball Team To Face Two Mansfield ISD Schools This Week
After a 10-day hiatus, the Cedar Hill High School Girls Basketball Team played six games in five days, ultimately finishing sixth at the competitive Allen Hoop Fest.
The Lady Longhorns (5-3) started the week with a 51-32 win at Dallas W.T. White. Rylan Jones, Sydney Moultrie and Lyntoria Daniel scored nine points apiece.
Cedar Hill opened the Allen Hoop Fest with a 90-25 win over Richardson Pearce, in which six CHHS players scored in double figures.
The Lady Longhorns then defeated Frisco Liberty (the top team in Class 5A), 46-34, before a 63-51 loss to Lubbock Monterey.
They bounced back with a 57-56 win over Frisco Memorial -- the #5 team in Class 5A, before a 50-40 loss to Garland Sachse -- the team that the Lady Longhorns have defeated in the past three postseasons.
Cedar Hill will visit Mansfield Timberview (3-6) on Tuesday and play former district rival, Mansfield Lake Ridge (4-3) in their season opener.

ALUMNI UPDATE
UTEP guard Portia Adams scored 18 points in a 78-73 loss to UTSA on Saturday. UTEP (3-1) will host New Mexico Highlands on Saturday.
Old Dominion guard Jadyn Atchison scored five points in a 70-44 win at Bowie State. ODU (3-1) will host VCU on Thursday.
East Carolina forward Anzhane Hutton had four points and two rebounds in a 71-57 win over Furman. The Pirates (2-2) will host Howard -- whom Hutton led to the 2022 NCAA Tournament - on Tuesday.
Chism Says Cedar Hill Boys Basketball Team Hosts Mansfield Lake Ridge on Tuesday
The Cedar Hill High School Boys Basketball Team will host former district rival, Mansfield Lake Ridge, in its home opener at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Mansfield Lake Ridge, a state semifinalist last season, defeated Red Oak (55-37) and Crandall (65-36) to open the 2024-2025 season.
The Longhorns (1-2) earned their first victory of the season, 55-34 at Fort Worth Eastern Hills, before an 81-45 loss to Lewisville in The Colony.
Tradavien Young led the way with 12 points against Eastern Hills, and Elijah Greenhouse added 10 points. Here's a photo gallery from the Eastern Hills game.

Liberty quarterback Kaidon Salter finished with 172 total yards, including two rushing touchdowns, as the Flames extinguished UMass' upset bid on Saturday with a 35-34 overtime win in Amherst, Massachusetts. Liberty (7-2) will host Western Kentucky on Saturday.
Illinois wide receiver Zakhari Franklin caught seven passes for 44 yards and the 41st touchdown of his career in a 38-16 win over Michigan State. Illinois (7-3) will visit Rutgers on Saturday.
East Texas A&M defensive lineman Leon Young made eight tackles, including two tackles for a loss, in the Lions' thrilling 41-40 win over Houston Christian. The Lions (3-8) will host Incarnate Word to close out the 2024 season on Saturday.
Sam Houston punter Jadon Cardell had seven punts for 298 yards (42.6 yard average) in a 23-17 overtime win at Kennesaw State. The Bearkats (8-2) will travel to Jacksonville State on Saturday.
Texas Southern defensive lineman Syncere Massey recorded three tackles in a 17-14 win over Bethune-Cookman. The Tigers (4-6) will close out the 2024 season on Saturday at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Stephen F. Austin running back Jaylen Jenkins had seven carries for 31 yards in a 27-20 loss to Incarnate Word. The Lumberjacks (6-5) will wrap up the season against Abilene Christian on Saturday.
