From Hamilton To Home
OCTOBER 2024
October Updates and Reminders
All of the previously stated activities are exciting, but only if your child is at school to participate in them. Attendance is a leading indicator of student success and we want all of our students to attend school daily to continue to progress. Did you know that excessive absences and truancy are calculated by hours in Ohio? That means that if your child is arriving to school late or leaving school early, those hours may be included and add up to excessive absence from school. If you do need to pick your child up early, please know that adult identification may need to be shown in order to do so. Please respect this request as student safety if our first priority.
Thank you for the continued support and engagement as we enter into fall season. if you should have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Best,
Principal Putt
HAMILTON AFFIRMATION
At Hamilton, we believe in teaching students to be confident young people. Every morning, we start the day by reciting the Hamilton Affirmation which states:
I am SOMEBODY
I and CAPABLE and LOVEABLE
I am TEACHABLE
Therefore, I can LEARN
I will not waste TIME
Because, it is too VALUABLE
And I am too PRECIOUS and BRIGHT
I am SOMEBODY
Please practice the affirmation with your child and review what it means. I am also looking for students who can proudly recite the affirmation during the morning announcements.

NOTES FROM THE NURSE
Happy October!
I hope this letter finds you and your family well. As part of our ongoing commitment to the health and well being of all our students, we will be conducting hearing and vision screenings for students in Kindergarten, First, and Third grades.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Hearing and vision screenings will take place mid October, and continue through the end of the month. These screenings are an important tool to help identify potential issues that may impact your child’s learning and development.
Additionally, if a teacher or staff member has noticed any potential concerns, your child may be screened regardless of grade.
Hearing screening consists of a simple test that will check your child’s ability to hear various frequencies and levels of sound.
Vision screening will measure your child’s ability to see clearly. This is an effective method of identifying non-symptomatic children at risk for vision impairment. Where this is an excellent screening tool, it should not replace a comprehensive eye exam, and will not detect all vision disorders
Both tests are quick, non-invasive, and will be conducted by trained staff.
FOLLOW-UP:
If your child does not pass a screening test, you will be notified. You will then be encouraged to see a healthcare professional for further evaluation.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding the screening process.
We appreciate your support in helping us ensure the health and success of all our students.

HAMILTON PBIS
The expectation at Hamilton is that students are always practicing and modeling the 3 B's which are Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Ready to Learn in all areas of the school. We encourage parents to have regular discussion on what the 3 B's look like and what happens when they model the 3 B's.
Be sure to review the "3 B's" with your child. These are discussed each and every day.
