The average child going into fifth grade this September will still be approximately 3 months behind in reading as a result of the pandemic learning loss. When they enter into the summer already behind in learning, the typical summer learning loss becomes even more significant.

At the VSA Camp Open House, learn how our Virtual Summer Camp promotes intensive, engaging, and fun learning all summer long. The 8-week camp program runs from June 27 through August 19, 2022, and students can sign up for any combination of weeks. Our custom-designed camp curriculum cultivates math, reading, writing, and public speaking skills that are essential to thriving and succeeding in the next school year.

During these classes, students work with each other and with VSA Future teachers as they learn collaboratively and in a way that allows them to truly retain the information they are learning. Through our video teaching platform, students are able to receive real time feedback on their work, share with other students and are motivated by staff and peers all while conveniently located at home.

In English/Reading & Writing, campers are identifying imperative sentences, mastering the subjunctive, and crafting complex essays with a compelling thesis. VSA Vocabulary offers an engaging and new way of studying vocabulary that brings language to life. The class learns to use Greek and Latin roots to categorize unfamiliar words based on its function and part of speech. Studying word roots opens children’s eyes to new words, making vocabulary mastery easier, faster, and more enjoyable.

In our Public Speaking course, students project their voices, make eye contact, and make their presence known, whether in person or through the computer screen. Our innovative course teaches students to effectively argue a strong stance, be persuasive, and hold an audience rapt with any topic they choose.

In Math, campers work to integrate mathematical thinking, data analysis, and a rigorous foundation in math principles, as well as problem-solving skills and creativity.

And on Fridays, we adventure across the world, discovering scientific truths and learning from esteemed global speakers. Friday activities include Arts & Crafts, Storytime, Fun with Science, Chess, and Global Speaker Series with outside guests. Each day features 20 minutes of Gym to get students up and moving!
