THAT WYLIE BUGLE 11/11-11/15
ALL-DISTRICT AUDITIONS | PLAYOFF GAME FRIDAY | SPIRIT NIGHT
RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT FROM MR. DIXON
Dear THAT WYLIE BAND Students and Parents,
It has truly been an honor and a joy to serve as the Director of Bands for THAT WYLIE BAND over the past 18 years. This role has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support I've received from the WISD/WHB administration, our amazingly talented students, staff, and our entire Wylie community.
As many of you know, my wife recently relocated to the Durham area in North Carolina. This was a significant decision for us, made in order to improve her quality of life due to ongoing health challenges related to allergies here in North Texas. I’m pleased to share that her health has dramatically improved since the move, and she has started a new position as a therapist with a local practice.
After much thought and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to retire at the end of December and relocate to Durham to be with her. While leaving mid-year is never easy, I believe this is the right decision for our family and will allow for a smooth transition for the band as we plan for the 2025-2026 band calendar and activities.
I am excited to announce that Mr. Schroeder will step in as the interim Head Director with my full support and confidence. Mr. Schroeder is an exceptional educator—organized, student-centered, and an integral part of our team over the past 11 years. This transition will also allow him the opportunity to evaluate whether he would like to pursue the position permanently when it becomes available next semester. Along with the tremendously talented Mr. Lisko and Mr. Holloway, this amazing staff will continue to build upon the strong legacy of THAT WYLIE BAND. Mr. Lisko has been an invaluable member of our teaching staff for the last 10 years, and he is one of the most gifted musicians, educators, and people I’ve had the privilege to work alongside. The addition of Mr. Holloway to our percussion program last year was a tremendous boost to our students and staff, and his contributions have completed our teaching team. To further support our program, we will be adding another director next semester to share the teaching load and continue the legacy of excellence.
I want to sincerely thank you for the trust and support you’ve shown me throughout my time here. It has been a privilege to work with such talented and dedicated students, and I am excited to watch the continued success of THAT WYLIE BAND in the future as the LEGACY continues.
With deepest gratitude,
Todd Dixon
