Happy Friday, LMS fam -

Our students had a great first week of Ohio State Testing as we completed the English/Language Arts assessment on Tuesday and Wednesday. Our shared that students took their time, were thorough, worked very hard and took advantage of the whole testing block. We are proud of our students for their hard work this first week! We continue with testing next Tuesday and Wednesday with the Math assessment at both grade levels.

A reminder that we have no school next Friday, 4/18. It looks like we get a break from the rain this weekend for the first time in a while. I hope our students can enjoy some time outside. Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

Take care and Go Tigers,

David Knapp

Congratulations to this week's Tiger Up! Staff Member of the Week, Tonya Morrison (LIS/LMS Health Aide)! Mrs. Morrison recently received the following special shout out:

Mrs. Morrison goes above and beyond for students and staff every day and we are so lucky to have her at LMS. Tonya is a steady force in the clinic who has all the expertise in the world. She's kind, caring, attentive to detail, responsive, on top of it and everything that you would ever want and need for a school nurse. On top of running a top-notch clinic with kids coming and going every single day, Tonya also makes any field trip outside of the school with students a smooth one. With the packed yellow backpack always organized and full with student medications, Tonya always has things ready for us and makes that process as smooth and easy as it could be. Mrs. Morrison is the best!

We are so appreciative of you, Tonya! Thank you for all you do for all our students and LMS!

Reminders Reminders

8th Grade Interview Day

On Thursday, May 1st, the 8th grade students will participate in our annual mock interview. “Interview Day” is a valuable experience for our students as many of them will soon be getting their first job or applying for college scholarships. For several of our students, this is the first formal conversation they will have with an adult outside of their family. The experience provides an opportunity for meaningful discussions about professionalism and interpersonal communication. It is inspiring to see them rise to the professional standard we ask of them. It is a day where we get to see a glimpse of the young adults within these middle school students.

This event is only made possible with the help of our volunteers. We are looking for a mix of interviewers from all different career fields; you do not need a background in human resources to be a volunteer. The interviews will take place in person at Loveland Middle School. Thank you for considering being an interviewer this year. If you are interested in volunteering as an interviewer, please sign up through the
LMS Interview Day Sign Up.

If you are unable to volunteer but would still like to help out, please consider signing up to DONATE A SNACK to feed our interviewers!

Current 8th Graders - Tiger Council

Would you like to take on a leadership role at Loveland High School next year? Become a member of the Superintendent's Tiger Council! This group of students will meet with the superintendent and LHS principal about once a month to give them feedback on improving the school experience. Your attendance is REQUIRED at only ONE of the meetings as the same information will be discussed at both meetings. If you cannot attend, please email Ms. Rose at roseka@lovelandschools.org or Mrs. Pitcher at pitchetr@lovelandschools.org to make arrangements to get the information and paperwork.

Attention Parents/Guardians of Current 7th grade students

River Explorer Field Trip Parent Information

As a part of our study of ecology and watersheds, the 7th grade teams will be going on a field trip to the Little Miami River to engage in the River Explorer program with the Ohio River Foundation. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain a better understanding and appreciation for the Little Miami River here in Loveland. Unfortunately, starting in May, Nesbit Park will be closed for construction. Therefore, one team will explore Nesbit Park and two of our field trips will be at Sycamore Park in Batavia. To learn more about the River Explorer trip please visit the Ohio River Foundation website.

More information about what to wear and bring the day of the trip will be discussed with your student during science class.

We will be collecting $15 in science class starting the first week of April. This money will cover both the field trip cost and the last day of school activities.

Breakdown of costs:

  1. River field trip → $8/student

  2. Last day of school events → $7/student (covers lunch and kona ice)

Dates of the trips:

The CREW: April 29th

A-Team: May 6th

The REAL team: May 8th

If you have any questions about the trip and/or you do not want your student to join us please contact your students’ science teacher.

Chromebook Chargers

As the year goes on, we've noticed more and more students reporting that they have lost their school Chromebook charger. This leads to students coming to school with uncharged devices, which gets in the way of instructional and work time for students at school. This is especially important as we look ahead to the Ohio State Testing window coming up after spring break.

Please check in with your child to be sure they have a charger. If your child is in need of a Chromebook charger due to losing theirs, you have a few options:

  • You can purchase an off-brand compatible charger through Amazon by visiting this link. (Currently priced at $25.)
  • You can purchase a Lenovo brand charger by visiting this link. (Currently priced at $65.99)
  • You can purchase a Lenovo brand charger through the school and receive the charger the same day. A $50 charge will be applied to your student fees.

Please reach out to Catherine Dwyer (dwyerca@lovelandschools.org) with any questions.

2025 Summer School

Loveland High School is excited to offer opportunities for students to take classes for both original credit and credit recovery this summer. Please see this link for information about the 2025 LHS Summer School. The registration deadline for courses taken for original credit is Friday, May 9. The deadline for registration for credit recovery is Friday, May 30. Please contact Mr. Mitchell at mitchedr@lovelandschools.org with any questions.

STEM Summer Camps

Do you know a student passionate about STEM? CINSAM’s Summer Camps (grades 2-8) and Academies (grades 9-12) offer hands-on experiences in exciting fields like engineering, cybersecurity, AI, coding, and biomedical sciences. These five-day day programs are a great way for kids to kick summer boredom, make like-minded friends, and have fun exploring their favorite STEM subjects.

For more information go to https://www.nku.edu/academics/artsci/about/centers/cinsam/p12students/summerprograms.html

Thank you to Ashland for their generous funding which makes CINSAM's summer programming low-cost for the community!

Cell Phone Changes for 25-26

Pending Board of Education approval, starting for the 25-26 school year, Loveland Middle School will be updating our cell phone policy to align with grades K-6 in Loveland. This means that students will not be able to use their cell phones at lunch and phones will be kept in student's lockers the entire school day. As we prioritize students having fun and connecting with friends at lunch, as well as supporting our student's mental health, we believe this move is what is best for our middle school students.

We'll be communicating this information with students at school soon. We'll also communicate further details with parents as we work through the change and head into next school year, but we wanted to let you all know of this change as soon as possible. While this won't be a change for our current 6th graders heading into 7th grade, we know it will provide a change for our current 7th graders for their 8th grade year that we will need to work through and support during the transition.

If you have any questions or concerns about this change, please reach out to Principal Knapp (knappda@lovelandschools.org or 513-683-3100).
