This Week at Coulston
What an awesome week we had at CES!!! Just a few of things learned this week at Coulston:
-School rules were discussed in 2nd grade while reading Clark the Shark.
-Reviewing how to add with regrouping was being taught in 3rd grade.
-4th grade jumped right into the year with fractions in math.
-Several grade levels began working on transitions to station work.
-Mrs. Epple began teaching students about musical notes and meanings.

Transportation Reminders: Bus information will be available for viewing by visiting scs.shelbycs.org/page/transportation and scrolling down to the INFOFINDER link. Please remember that if you need to change your transportation, you need to complete a Change of Transportation form at school. It will take 48 hours for the change to occur. Please call the office with any questions.
Car Rider Line: Thank you for being patient as we worked through the extra traffic the first few weeks of school. The flow was much better last week! Please remember in the morning dropoff…have your goodbyes finished before pulling up and have your child ready to exit on the passenger side of the car. PLEASE DO NOT get out of the vehicle during drop-off/pick-up. This helps keep everyone safe! Thank you for your cooperation!
PTO Meeting: We will have our first PTO meeting on Monday, August 19th in our new Large Group Instruction Room at 5:30PM. You may enter through the front doors beginning at 5:15. Anyone who is interested in participating should attend. We look forward to seeing you there, and a great year with PTO. We will discuss plans for the year, and the election of officers for our September meeting.
PTO Fall Mum Sale: Our PTO is sponsoring a fall Mum Sale and it continues this week. Each potted mum is $10 and comes in a variety of colors. Please see the attachment for more information on ordering. Thank you for supporting our PTO.
Lunches: Student lunches are now $2.70. Breakfast will continue to be free for all students. We encourage all families to fill out the free and reduced lunch form to ensure that if you qualify, you will receive assistance. IMPORTANT: The free and reduced lunch form must be completed every year to qualify. If your family qualified last year, a completed form must be completed again this year. A Few Reminders and updates for the 24-25 School Year:
Indiana’s new law on cell phones in the classroom is in effect this school year. Students are not permitted to have cell phones in use during class.
A new attendance law is also in effect beginning this school year that requires immediate attendance interventions and parent conferences after 5 days of absence in a 10 week period. Please see the attached for Attendance information.
The student dress code will be enforced this year. Please remember that students have to wear shoes that have a back on them. NO slides, backless sandals or shoes are allowed. This is for the safety of the children while at school. Thanks for your cooperation with this rule.
Early Release Dismissal will be at 1:45 each Wednesday.
If you have a transportation change, that will need to be called in by 1:00PM. After this time we will not be able to accommodate that change due to our new dismissal system.
Remember that the beginning of school bell rings at 7:25, which is when bus and car riders are dismissed. The tardy bell rings at 7:45. If your child is tardy for school, you will need to come into the school and sign them in. Students are NOT allowed to check themselves in if they are late to school, and are NOT allowed to be dropped off if tardy.
