Medical photographers, also known as bio-medical photographers, document scientific information in the areas of medicine, biology, chemistry, and other health subjects. Biomedical photographers make prints of charts and graphs, create videotapes or digitized images, and process photographs of the many different parts of the body to improve the understanding of the human body and disease
what skills you need
There are two main entry routes into Medical Photography
1st one
- the first one takes an understanding and the qualifications in photography
- an HND level course in Photography, followed by a trainee post at a teaching hospital
- then after a year take a Post Experience Certificate in Medical Illustration
- BIPP (British Institute of Professional Photographers) Qualifying Examination in Medical Photography.
- In addition to having an understanding of (body structure), you must show evidence of technical advance knowledge.
- You may need to use particular skills creatively (such as lighting or composition) to show some conditions effectively.
- It is also important to have good written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to accept high levels of responsibility
type of degree
Most medical photographers have a degree in photography from a college or university and often have a degree in the sciences. They need to have a good understanding of photographic and optical principles, and also understand the technical needed things of a particular job in order select or change equipment. Knowledge of digital imaging software is necessary to edit and output images while maintaining scale and color balance
