Loveland's Mission
The mission of Loveland elementary school, in partnership with our actively involved community, is to promote excellence and instill a desire for learning by challenging each individual within a safe, supportive environment.
Loveland's Expectations
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
Dear Loveland Families,
We are thrilled to share that we have had a wonderful start to the school year! It has been a joy to see students back in the classroom, engaging in learning, and building connections with their peers and teachers.
As we move forward, we remain committed to fostering strong relationships with both our students and families. We believe that these partnerships are key to creating a supportive and successful learning environment for all.
We are also excited to see you in the coming weeks at parent-teacher conferences. These meetings provide a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and collaborate on ways to continue supporting their growth.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to an amazing school year together!
Warm regards,
Ms. Hornung

Loveland Launch Coming SOON
Loveland Families,
We are excited to announce our upcoming school fundraiser Loveland Launch, a "Just Give" campaign, aimed at supporting both our wonderful staff and students here at Loveland. This campaign allows families to make direct contributions that will be used to enhance our school's resources and provide additional support for the students and staff throughout the year.
Your generous donations, no matter the amount, will have a lasting impact on the learning experiences and opportunities we can offer. There are no products to sell—just a simple way to give back and help us continue making Loveland an amazing place for our children to learn and grow.
We appreciate your continued support and look forward to a successful campaign that directly benefits our entire school community. More information will follow soon on how you can participate!

Keep Us From Getting LOST!
Please make sure to mark all jackets, lunch pails, backpacks and other student items with their NAME in case they are left around the building or out at recess. This helps us get them back to the right owner.
The school has a Lost and Found that parents are welcome to look through if something is missing. Our Lost and Found is located outside the gym in the hallway.
Multi-Tiered System of Supports Information
Westside Community Schools continues the implementation of MTSS, which stands for Multi-Tiered System of Supports. MTSS in Westside assures that we regularly monitor student skills and follow-up with providing students what they need to be successful in learning. Beginning in August, this means that we first screen all students to determine their current skill levels and plan our instruction to meet their needs.
What is MTSS? MTSS is a framework for providing instruction and support to promote the academic and behavioral success of all children. Individual children’s progress & skills are measured, and these results are used to make decisions about further instruction and intervention. The MTSS process is flexible and allows for a continuum of supports designed to meet the needs of individual students. This support may be provided in a large or small group by the classroom teacher or other support staff, either within or outside the classroom.
What does this mean for my child? A key component of the MTSS process is that all children receive high quality instruction in their classroom. Universal screenings are brief tests used to measure the progress of all students and are given three times per year. As a result of the screenings, students may be identified as needing some degree of supplemental intervention in addition to the instruction they are receiving in their classroom. If your child is identified as needing intervention you will be notified. Please contact your child’s building principal with questions.
Nebraska Reading Improvement Act: The Nebraska Reading Improvement Act went into effect at the start of the 2019-2020 school year. The goal is that all Nebraska students are able to read at or above grade level by the end of third grade. This is accomplished by ensuring all students have access to high-quality instruction and for struggling readers to receive targeted support (intervention). Our current MTSS framework in Westside Community Schools already allows for us to meet these state requirements. Also, the more students continue to read, review math facts, and write/journal each day at home, in addition to their instruction from school, the more secure their skills may become.
Halloween Update
Halloween is approaching so I know you all are starting to think about your costumes! For our school parade and party, please wear only fun and friendly costumes.
Keep In Touch
Throughout the year, use these ideas to stay in touch:
- Attend parent/teacher conferences, parent organization meetings, workshops, and special presentations.
- Tell the teacher about any special situations that may affect your child’s success at school - health problems or changes in the family.
- Remember how great you feel when you get a note of thanks? Teachers feel the same way. Send a note to the teacher to express your appreciation. Example: “Thanks for sparking Russ’s interest in reptiles. He’s so excited!”
Classroom Treats and Birthday Treats
Birthday Treats and classroom treats are a special way to celebrate your child with his/her classroom. Birthday treats are not required, but appreciated. They can be consumable or non-consumable. If you choose to bring in food, it must be an approved treat or snack from our District's Healthy Snack List.
Lunch Information
To deposit money into your child’s account you may bring a check or cash to the office, or you may go to MySchoolBucks.com. (You will need your student's ID number. Please call or email Mrs. Knight if you need that information.) We send an email or a note in your child's backpack to any student whose account has become overdrawn. Please check your email, spam folder, MySchoolBucks account, or your child's backpack for your child's lunch balance. We need to have negative balances at zero or positive balances.

Upcoming Events
WHS Football Games
We want to ensure families and students know the rules, to ensure the safety of all involved. While we welcome all students at our Westside High Football Games,
All elementary students attending the game will need to attend the game with a parent and sit with a parent.
No footballs or other balls are allowed in the stadium.
Students who do not follow these rules will be asked to leave. Thank you for your help to make sure our game atmosphere is positive for all who attend!

Wednesday Dismissal 3PM
Every Wednesday we will end the school day at 3:00 pm instead of 3:30 pm. This gives our teachers throughout the District collaboration time by attending weekly professional learning communities. Please plan accordingly to pick your child up at 3PM.
