Together in Learning and Faith
New OLA Mission Statement
"Our Lady of the Angels Catholic School is committed to nurturing the hearts and minds of young learners in a faith-filled environment.”
Seeds of Faith
Colossians 3:12
"Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience."
As parents, you play a vital role in shaping the hearts and minds of your children. Compassion begins at home—in the small moments of listening, forgiving, and loving when it’s most difficult. Your example teaches your children how to live out Christ’s love.
Together, we can build a school community rooted in these virtues. We are here to support you as you nurture your families, knowing that your daily efforts, though sometimes challenging, are planting seeds of faith and kindness in your children.
Let us pray for the grace to model compassion and understanding, trusting that God will guide us in this shared mission.
Our Opening Mass is with all the Catholic schools in Fort Saskatchewan on Thursday, Sept. 26th at 10 am at Taurus Field. All of our families are welcome to join us.

Opening Mass at Taurus Field
We are excited to gather together for our Opening School Mass with all four Catholic schools in Fort Saskatchewan. This is a beautiful opportunity for our school communities to come together in faith and prayer as we begin the school year rooted in Christ. Please have your child bring a towel to sit on.
Please note that if you have not yet completed the yearly consent forms in PowerSchool for your child, they will not be able to take the bus or attend the Mass. It is important to have these forms completed to ensure your child's participation. Please see the instructions below on how to complete the forms. Thank you for your attention to this important detail.
Truth and Reconciliation Week and Orange Shirt Day
This year, Truth and Reconciliation week is September 23rd-27th. The students at OLA will be learning and taking part in various activities throughout the week. We recognize Truth and Reconciliation week to honor the children who never returned home and the survivors of residential schools.
Our school will be recognizing Orange Shirt Day on Friday, September 27th. We encourage all students to wear orange that day.
The “orange shirt” refers to the new shirt that Phyllis Webstad was given to her by her grandmother for her first day of residential school. When Phyllis got to school, they took away her clothes, including her new shirt. To Phyllis, the color orange has always reminded her of her experiences at residential school.
The message that Phyllis wants to pass along on Orange Shirt Day- and everyday- is that every child matters. Orange Shirt Day was started by Phyllis to educate people about residential schools and fight racism and bullying.
