Mindfulness-Based SEL in Action
February 2020
Note from the Editors
Welcome! February is the month of LOVE! Let's celebrate all month long by sharing kindness and gratitude with others. Consider developing your own Wellness Week for your class or entire school. Let's put some extra love into what we do--whether it's for a school-wide stretch break or gratituesdays--let's inspire kindness in others.
If you find yourself with questions related to mindfulness or SEL we would be happy to help. Be sure to check out our upcoming learning opportunities in MLP/ MyLearningPlan for updates.
We invite you to share this newsletter with others who may benefit from all that is here. :-)

We Regulate
It is important to take care of your mental health every day. Sometimes, however, you may have an emotional emergency, and just like responding to a physical emergency, having the right Emotional Emergency First Aid Kit can help. Click on the picture to explore how to make your own Emotional Emergency First Aid Kit. Consider helping students to develop their own kit for when they become stressed out or upset.
We Connect
We are more than the academics we teach. We are humans modeling what a healthy relationship is. We have the power to create a lasting positive or negative imprint. This year, let’s all build relationships that empower our students.
Kristen Rhodes Beland provides four critical and easy tips to developing relationships--click the picture for the full article.
We Lead
EL has tremendous potential to create the conditions for youth agency and civic engagement and, ultimately, social change. We owe our students an education that centers on their lives and explicitly addresses the sociopolitical context. This will not only prepare our students to engage civically and peacefully across difference, but also to become the changemakers and leaders we need.
