Vector Prep & Arts and AZ Compass
December 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As December unfolds, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to this festive and joyous month. It is a time of reflection, celebration, and community, and I am excited to share in the spirit of the season with each and every one of you. Throughout this month, our school will be adorned with the creative expressions of our students, showcasing the diverse talents that make our community so special.
In the spirit of giving, December offers unique opportunities for us to come together as a school family. We have planned various events, activities, and initiatives that promote not only academic excellence but also kindness and generosity. As we embrace the holiday season, let us foster a sense of unity, understanding, and compassion. I encourage you to participate in the upcoming festivities, as they promise to be moments of joy and connection.
The week of December 5th all students will be administered the mid-year Renaissance Benchmarks. Please make sure your students are on time and well rested. December 12th and 13th our high school students will be taking their Finals. It is a very tight schedule between the testing and the beginning of break, it is imperative that all high school students are on campus to complete their finals.
I am grateful for the continued support and partnership of our families. Together, we create an environment where students flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. May this December be a month filled with warmth, laughter, and shared memories. Here's to a wonderful journey through the festivities that lie ahead!
Sincerely,
Rachael Lay, M.Ed.

Dress Code Reminders
Polos and/or collard shirts are required for all k-6 students.
PJs are not allowed in any grade level and this includes dress down days unless otherwise noted.
We are asking parents to please help us to provide an educational environment by speaking to their students about bringing blankets to school, this has become popular amongst the high school students. As a school we have asked the students to not wear blankets in classes.
SRO - Chandler PD on campus
As many families have noticed we have had the pleasure of having Chandler PD on campus to support a positive learning environment.
AZ Compass and Vector Prep received grant money to provide an officer on campus daily, their number 1 job is to be a positive role model for all students.
As a positive role model for students and the school community, the SRO should:
• Set limits by being clear about what is acceptable and what is not; letting students
know the consequences of unacceptable behavior and the rewards for acceptable
behavior.
• Set an example by modeling how to handle stress, resolve conflicts, celebrate
successes, and be a friend.
• Be honest by providing accurate information.
• Be consistent with students, staff, and parents in applying rules and regulations.
• Encourage responsibility by helping students to think through options and consequences of decisions, set personal goals, and develop a plan to make the desired changes.
• Show respect by treating students with respect and expressing high expectations for
them.
• Always strive to be a positive role model because students learn from every
observation of or interaction with the SRO.
